Song of the Grass-Mud Horse
[Warning: This video contains adult language.] Grass-Mud Horse is phonetically equivalent to “F*ck Your Mother!” in Chinese. The lyrics of the song describe the grass-mud horses fought off river crabs that were devouring their grassland. In spoken Chinese, river crab sounds like harmony. Censored bloggers often say their missing posts have been "harmonized" — a term came from President Hu Jintao's urging for a harmonious society. The song is a metaphor of the power struggle over Internet expression.Collected in Scentless Apprentice Mar 24, 2009 -
