SHIPLEY LEARNS TO FLY THE BEARCAT
Shipley started flying when he was 14 and directing at 21. His passion for both flight and film is woven thoughout the fabric of ASB. Most of all, Ed loves formation aerobatics. It sooths his OCD and gives his drive for perfection an outlet. Ed's the first to say that there is no such thing as a perfect formation flight... just hints of it here and there. The road to becoming a Horsemen is a long one. Both Beasley and Shipley have spent years flying formation together in Mustangs. When Dan Friedkin joined the team he only got 9 months. The story of Dan's accomplishment is amazing. It's a total life lesson of what can be achieved if you are completely willing to throw your mind, body, and soul at something you love.
HORSEMEN HONOR THE BLUES - THEN & NOW
The Horsemen have always admired the Blue Angels flight demonstration team. So when Jim, Dan, and Ed found out they were flying a show with the Blues they decided to pay homage to the Angels by replacing their normal ride of P-51 Mustangs with F-8F Bearcats. When the Blues caught wind of what was happening they suggested their solo pilots fly formation with the Bearcats.
