Just learned that everyone driving around Tok either puts cardboard or leather across the grill of their car or truck to keep the frigid (-50 below and colder) air from rushing into the vehicle. It really does work!
Like many places where the freezing weather can keep your car from starting, we have engine block heaters but will also leave our cars running (yes, with the keys inside) when we go into a restaurant or store. Otherwise, we'll be stranded.
It was probably around -60 degrees F. or colder while I was driving to the store. Have to keep the car running in those conditions or it won't start up again.
