They were driving along a highway in the US when a few truckers decided to have some fun with the band, who were riding in the little van from Canada. The band had the music written for this, but were having trouble coming up with lyrics. One night, there was a bible study group in the studio and the next day, lead singer Joe Elliott found a bible open to the hymn "Rock Of Ages." He started singing the phrase and Lange thought it would be perfect for the chorus. The first record Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliott bought was "Sugar, Sugar," which was a huge hit for the cartoon band The Archies in 1969. 1983.The Pyromania album was produced by Mutt Lange, who came up with the line, "All I've got is a photograph." This gave them the idea to write a song about a guy who's crazy about a girl, but all he has of her is a photograph.
