Media Display Prism (SnowFlake Lounge Demo in Google Lively)
I have been waiting for the “next” web 3D virtual world tool following Atmosphere & Second Life.
http://people.envision.purdue.edu/~tjrogers/
Though camera/geometry precision and self-building is not yet present, I had fun for a couple hours making my first room (based on my Media Display Prism Framework) and streaming six of my research-related youtube videos onto a virtual lively TV. Fun! Just in time to integrate my son Tristan’s first avatar into the mix.
The computer I used to capture assets for this video didn’t have the chutzpah to capture at very high frame rates, but I did the best I could given the available resources. There are a few video overlays to make up for some ugly spots, but overall, this exercise proved to demonstrate conceptual components of the MDP framework. I am even considering looking into using Lively as a platform for my dissertation–but that needs a lot of looking into.
Tristan Jade
Born Thursday, June 26th 2008 (3:23 pm). Weighing in at a hefty 9 pounds 3 ounces and 22″ tall.  And remember, even though it’s too late to send him a prenatal email, you can still send him a post-natal email. You might have to wait a few years before he responds though… http://people.envision.purdue.edu/~tjrogers/tristan_jade/PrenatalEmail.html

Academy Man, The Google/Virgin “Virgle” Fool’s Day Prank, and Avarena Response
On April 1st, I wanted to initiate the first annual Academy Man Art’s Festival (Fool’s Day Pageant). But numerous personal, logistic, and cultural factors led to the event being canceled.
This was the original promo video…Academy Man: Fool’s Day Pageant 2008

Promo was used as an introductory video for the Transparopticon Thesis that I’m working on.
On the First of April, I noticed this Virgle video from Larry Page & Sergey Brin

And I decided that I would s...
Super Tuesday Monumental Art Gallery
I help an old Seattle friend display his Super Tuesday art using my Media Display Prism concept in the context of the Political Heart of Super Tuesday. In particular, atop the apex of the Washington Monument.

If you think this is groovy, please Rate it on this page [ Super Tuesday Monumental Art Gallery ],
or better yet, Digg it if you have an account: [ http://digg.com/politics/Super_Tuesday_Art ].
And here is the “trailer” video.
