Now the Sprockets will dance!
Sprecher brewing from Glendale, WI is the subject of today’s lesson.  In this episode of Beer School T.V. we try their Pub Brown Ale.  It’s one of only 5 varieties that Sprecher brews year round.
Click here to find out where you can get Sprecher Beer.  Oh, and if you’re on blogcatalog.com, give your favorite beer blog (that’s us…right?!?!) a really good grade.  We’re not really sure what these grades mean but hey, we want some gold stars!
Sprecher Pub Brown Ale

We just started a Facebook fan page. If you like the blog then be our fan!
(realizing it’s a little odd to proclaim yourself a fan of your teachers…but we’re the cool teachers who give you beer).

You call that a twist off?!?!
We are continuing our tour of Wisconsin……Wesscaaannnsoonnn with another brew from our friends at Sprecher Brewing. Please forgive the darkness in this episode of beerschool T.V. Felipe, our lighting guy (also Brian’s pool boy) had gone home for the day so we were left to fend for ourselves. ENJOY!

Beer is good. Schlitz is great!
Josh was recently up in Wisconsin and he brought back some Schlitz beer.  It’s coming back ya’ll.  Schlitz was very popular back in the 60’s and 70’s until they changed the formula and it faded away.  It’s “the beer that made Milwaukee famous” and right now that’s the only place you can get it again (for now).  We were hanging out in the teachers lounge the other day and we started digging around the ol internets and found some pretty awesome old Schlitz t.v. commercials…….this got us thinking :)   With the return of this beer, we felt that it was our duty to film a small series of commercials (or Beer-mercials) that reflect the layed back, party lifestyle of those classic ads.  So, without further ado, we give you beer-mercial #1….Brian’s throwing a party ya’ll….and he wants you to come.

Flowers are good. Beer is great.
As we stated a few days ago…Schlitz is coming back ya’ll. It’s “the beer that made Milwaukee famous” and if you’re in WI it’s the cool beer to drink. So much history! It’s the beer Josh’s grandfather drank in the 40s…that’s going WAY back.
With the return of this beer, we felt that it was our duty to film a small series of commercials (or Beer-mercials) that reflect the layed back, party lifestyle of those classic ads. And now, for beer-mercial #2…Brian sings a song about Schlitz.

Schlitz is good for your throat
We give you….Schlitz “Beer-mercial” #3.  Some pretty amazing lines in this one.  “It’s like a disco in your mouth my friends”  ….. “There’s a bubble party going on in the bottle”  ~ Both of these are soon to become household sayings.  Please remember….none of these are scripted, this is just what comes out of Brian’s brain bones.   Someone…call the Schlitz people…quick!

Go cow tipping
We’re taking a short break from our Schlitz tribute “beer-mercials” but continuing our tour of Wisconsin brews with this next one.  Spotted Cow Ale from New Glarus Brewing Co. located in (you guessed it) New Glarus, WI.  This company makes some fine beers.  One of our favorite beers from them is their Organic Revolution.  We’re not sure how they make those 4 ingredients taste so good.  Anway…on to the COW…you don’t hear that everyday….er….or maybe you do if you’re a farmer.  Not sure how many farmers we have reading but….cheers to you…..you get up earlier than we could imagine.  Check out this episode of BeerSchoolT.V. for more on Spotted Cow Ale.

Going out with a bang
Have you adopted the laid back Schlitz Beer life-style?  Well, here’s to hoping that Schlitz is on a “roll” and that they “drum up” enough support to distribute their beers into other cities.  Somehow we don’t really think that’s going to be a problem, but work with us here…we’re trying to “stick” to the point.  Beer makes things good.  Schlitz makes them great.  And so we give you the final “Beer-mercial with Brian”  CHEERS!

12 Beers of Christmas #11 - Hobgoblin Dark English Ale
Happy Christmas! We’re almost there. It’s the 11th Beer of Christmas and today, your teachers give you Hobgoblin Dark English Ale from Wychwood Brewery in the UK. Why Hobgoblin? Because the beer Brian wanted to make the 11th beer of Christmas was nowhere to be found. This one had an elf on the bottle so it seemed like an appropriate beer for Christmas. Whatever. Here’s today’s Net-V (TV on the internets) for the 11th beer of Christmas:

Check out the Wychwood Brewery website…they make some pretty cool brews.

12 Beers of Christmas #10 - Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
The 10th Beer of Christmas comes to us from the fine folks at Dogfish Head Brewery out of Milton, DE.  The 90 Minute IPA is strong!  Why do they call it “90 Minutes”  …..that’s the amount of boiling time during the brew process and the amount of time that they continuously add hops.  It’s the strongest beer on the countdown at 9%.

12 Beers of Christmas #9 - Very Bad Elf
The 9th Beer of Christmas is Very Bad Elf from Ridgeway Brewery in England. It’s imported by the Shelton Bros. Brewery in Belchertown, MA which is an amazing name for a town, especially a town with a brewery.  We didn’t really care for the beer, but we sure looked cool tasting it….that is….if sun glasses inside at night and weird light up santa hats are cool.  They are right???

12 Beers of Christmas - #4 Cold Hop
The 12 B.O.C rolls on with #4 COLD HOP by Boulder Beer Company. Boulder Beer is Colorado’s first Micro Brewery and they are probably most well known for a dry-hopped ale called Hazed and Infused.  Cold Hop is a strong, high gravity beer that has a lot of hop flavor.  Basically, it tastes like a Christmas Tree which explains the setting of our latest NET-V (T.V. for the internets) episode…..enjoy.  We’ll be back tomorrow with Beer #5

Alright class, the 12 Beers of Christmas rolls on. For the 3rd beer of Christmas your teachers give you: Michelob Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale

We’ve got to hand it to the folks at Michelob.  Yes, we know they’re a big brewer but they’ve really stepped it up with some of their new brews.  They know have a Porter, a Pale Ale, an Organic Pale and more.  Also, their website features videos on how to serve and pour your beer and even food pairings.  Check it out here

12 Beers of Christmas - #2 Dogtoberfest
The 12 Beers of Christmas continues at beerschoolblog.com. Thanks for following along! Beer #2 comes from Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, MD. It’s their Fall seasonal called Dogtoberfest. They make a Winter seasonal but we couldn’t find it. Also, we generally like Oktoberfest beers and that’s a holiday in Germany…so it made sense to us. We digress.
On to episode 2 of the 12 Beers of Christmas…(click here if you missed the first one)
