(January 2, 2009) It’s official. The self-described Messiah who proclaimed that he would fast until death, if sent to prison, is now eating while behind bars.

KOB-Investigative reporter Jeremy Jojola learned of this latest development in the Wayne Bent case while opening an e-mail from a prison spokesperson. A few minutes later, Beyond90Seconds.com conducted a video interview with Jojola as he sat at his desk in the KOB-TV newsroom:

(January 2, 2009) As reported on this blog Thursday evening, recently convicted sex offender Wayne Bent is expected to end his fast in prison today. KOB-TV’s investigative reporter Jeremy Jojola reported this story on his station’s 10pm newscast Thursday.

Minutes after his report aired, Jojola spoke with Beyond90Seconds.com in a video interview recorded via Skype. This interview about the embattled leader of the Lord Our Righteousness Church runs 12-minutes and 32-seconds.

When KOB-TV sent reporter Jeremy Jojola more than 300-miles for an exclusive interview with a woman who’d been fasting for nearly a month, his station would not have the only camera in the room. Members of Wayne Bent’s “Strong City” also videotaped KOB’s unfolding interview with Aquinnah O’Keefe (aka “Esther”).

Today, Strong City published its video of the interview on its Web site, strongcity.info. The video runs nearly 7-minutes. But it’s not unedited, as it does include a single diss

The following video is an excerpt from the January 14, 2009 episode of the Dr. Phil television program. Much of the episode, “Family Cult (part 2)”, focused on Wayne Bent and his Lord Our Righteousness Church. More specifically, it showed the efforts of two former LOR members who attempted to reach-out to relatives still living at Bent’s Strong City.

Just hours before authorities removed Aquinnah O’Keefe (aka “Esther”) from a “cult” compound in northeastern New Mexico last Wednesday, KOB-TV’s Jeremy Jojola conducted an exclusive interview with the young woman.

O’Keefe, who said she’d not eaten since December 30th, had been fasting to protest the imprisonment of Wayne Bent (aka “Michael Travesser).
