Hologrphic Storage Holds Great Promise
he concepts behind Holographic Storage are not new but I was unaware until today of GE’s efforts in the field. General Electric is working to make standard-size discs hold the equivalent of 100 DVDs. GE researchers are studying holographic storage that stores data in patterns on light-sensitive material and their approach relies on microholographic storage. They’ve been able to find materials and develop techniques so smaller holograms can reflect enough light for data patterns to be detected and read.Collected in bfortner's videos May 6, 2009
