2009 USA Triathlon National Championships
USA Triathlon brought its "Superbowl" of triathlon, the Age Group & Elite National Championship, to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on August 22, 2009. With a swim that started against the floodwater current (ask Molly!), the championship race was a challenge befitting the mystique of the sport. Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama, was host to the event which brought out everyone’s best, both as competitive athletes and as a triathlon community. 2009 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
For one weekend each summer, 2,000 of the world’s best triathletes assemble in San Francisco for one of the most infamous and extreme sporting events…the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. In its 29 years as a maximum-security prison, no one ever escaped alive from the menacing shores of Alcatraz. Every year, this popular event draws over 20,000 spectators to see who can accomplish that daunting task.
2009 Holten ETU Triathlon European Championships
With a 25 year track record, the Holten Triathlon knows how to make racing "easy." The village of Holten, Netherlands hosted the 2009 ETU Triathlon European Championships in early July. Nearly 2000 triathletes participated in the races. Nicola Spirig of Sweden and Javier Gomez of Spain took gold and are 2009 European Champions. Bike Hill Repeats
It’s critical that you go into the bike leg strong and ready to make your ride roll as fast as it looks. One of the best workouts for developing bike-specific strength is a bike hill repeat. In this video, learn the proper way to incorporate bike hill repeats into your training.
