Cruise Ship vs. Battleship
Dr. Walter Price used this video in a sermon he preached a number of weeks ago and referred to it during a message my wife and i attended. I thought it made for a good question and reminder as we think about our involvement within the Church.
Preaching on the Recession-Do's and Don't
Pastor Matt Chandler talks here about silly, Christless ways as well as Christ saturated ways for Pastors to preach about the recession.

On Evangelism: From an Atheist
Good word here from an Atheist on the importance and seriousness of evangelism.
Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Pastors
Here's a little pastoral ministry satire. Funny, but with a nervous laugh. Sad that this sort of thing can be stereotypically true.
Sarah Palin and the Vice Presidency
Thabiti Anyabwile pointed us to this video of CNN interview with Pastor Vodie Baucham on Sarah Palin, the Vice Presidency, motherhood, the authority of Scripture and the priority of the gospel. In addition to this being the most biblical evaluation of the possibility of Palin's ascendency to office, it is also one of the clearest demonstrations of engaging the culture with the gospel.
The 2008 Election
John Piper gives a 7 minute take on this year's election. He sums up the issues inmy own heart. It seems that Barak Obama is on his way to the White House and the Congress will be solidly in the hands of the Democrats. Unless something dramatic happens in the next few days, we will begin to see one of the most dramatic political shifts to the left in the past forty years.

Click HERE and HERE for my recent sermons on Romans 13 and the upcoming elections.
Job and the Goodness of God
Of all John Piper's books, his poem on Job is by far one of the most impactful in my life. Kelly and I have listened to it more times than I can count. This video reminds me of its highlights and the truths about God that sustain through the darkest of days.
Confessions of a Pastor: You Shall Not Worship Idols
Idolatry in Modern America-and no, I'm not talking about loving cars and computers more than God (though that is certainly a prevalent form). Here's the sort of thing you might find in those backward, unsophisticated, uneducated, and ancient cultures of bygone days - or perhaps in oriental cultures that have not progressed past their ancient animistic traditions. However, its right here in our well-educated, modern, high-tech, progressive culture.

It's hard to believe this is not just a funny spoof, th
A Visual, Historic and Dissappointing Coronation
I caught a bit of Barak Obama's coronation speech the other night. Just a few comments:

1) Obama is one of the better political speakers we've seen in a while. I include Bill Clinton in this. When Clinton speaks (I've thought this from day one), I say over and over to myself, "How does anyone believe anything he says?" He has a little smirk that makes me think deep within, "He knows he's lying and this is all political paper mache'." Not so with Barak Obama. No deceptive smirk. He's just a better po

Wow! While watching the pics, enjoy the song, which was one of the most humbling moments of the conference-just after John MacArthur preached a stunning message on mankind's depravity.
Facebook Song
For all my fellow Facebook connoisseurs and avid participants - a song for your weekend!

Will It Blend? - iPhone3G
Did you buy a new iPhone 3G? Not me (not yet, anyhoo)! The real question about the iphone is "Will It Blend?"
Where Are the Faithful?
Here's an excerpt from what I thought was one of the most powerful messages of the 2008 Together for the Gospel Conference. Where are the faithful men. I needed to hear this again tonight!
