Went up to 407 which was the record. I got it [...]

Meet Day w/ Video
Well I’m going to try and explain the day that was 5 months in the making for me. To say the least… it was bigger than Christmas. We left our hotel and headed to the hotel in which the meet was held around 6:30 am. I weighed in at 178 lbs (almost 4 lbs under [...]
Bump in the road
Well I finally got into to quest gym to let them check my squat. Last week I hit 510 to what I thought was pretty deep. Well when they watched my squat and corrected it to how low it needs to be, the heaviest double I hit was 455. What you have to understand is… this depth is what most people would consider 3 or 4 inches above ATH or ATF or ATG whatever you affectionately call squats where your butt comes inches from the floor. That’s just how the USAPL likes it. When I hit 510 for two last week it was much lower than the average person goes in the gym but just not up to competition standards. Nevertheless, I’m going to try not to worry too much about the squat and do what I can in the time I have left. Hopefully, I can recover and still hit 475 on squat then let my deadlift and bench carry me to a medal. I’ll keep you posted. I really only have 4 and a half weeks left to train so the pressure is steadily climbing.
I’ve been talking with Sherman, the gym owner and owner of quest nutrition, about my powerlifting future a lot. Short term, he wants me to do nationals then take 6 months before I hit another meet (which will probably be Southeastern regionals in December). Long term, he wants me totaling 1690 about 2 years from now.  Adam is still coaching me up until nationals and Doc will be working with me some, and Doc will also coach me at nationals.
I’m moved into my house. Joe has been the only person here, but he’s cool. I just met mike today and andrew is outta’ town. It should be cool. Summer classes seem chill.

Video of the week:
6 weeks out
This video is ridiculous. I’ve never seen an arch like this guys.

I’m starting to get really stoked for nationals. Not long now. Been experiencing a little knee pain, but its to be expected. Icing them, taking a minimal amount of ibuprofen, and listening to my body when it says stop (sometimes). I will definitely go light for 2-4 weeks after nationals to rest up and fully recover.
Everyone has just been really helpful lately. It started with my dad, uncle and kelsey being supportive at my meet and then my dad’s two friends donating money for natls. Then everyone at quest gym can’t offer me enough advice n they are willing to meet up anytime I can cough up gas money to make it over there. Especially Adam and Doc the past 2 weeks. Sherman the gym owner has been helping me out with buying equipment giving me deals because he knows i’m a broke college student. All the bros at the UGA gym are always giving me spots and encouraging me too. I don’t want to say its surprising, but its definitely been making me think a lot lately and wonder if I’m that kind of person to other people. Unfortunately, the answer is no. But I’m trying to be intentional about shedding my selfishness. So that’s pretty much what’s up with me lately.

I saw this Michael Phelps quote and I really relate to it with my lifting. Plus, its more inspirational than his other quote “hey bro pass the bong”
”If I didn’t swim my best, I’d think about it at school, at dinner, with my friends. It would drive me crazy.”

New workout style that Adam wrote out for me. Its called Shieko. Mondays are heavy squat in the suit, light bench, and box squats. Wednesdays are light deadlifts (sets of 3 reps at about 85%), block bench, and rack pulls. Thursday is light squat (3 reps  at 85%) and box squat. Saturday is heavy deadlifts in the suit, heavy bench press in the shirt, and rack pulls. I did this all last week but didn’t post anything because I wanted to see ho
