It has become abundantly clear-as many news sources and commentators have pointed out-that the Israeli ground offensive is becoming more paradoxical by the hour. Targeting Hamas in response to rocket fire, or to break up their networks of manufacturing/weapons production is clearly in the Israeli national interest. Engaging in siege tactics and fighting a war where discriminating between combatant and non-combatant is impossible is clearly not in the Israeli national interested.
