Simple Minds – Theme For Great Cities [1981]
However, it can be said that Pete Heller and Terry Farley did not originate their string section from the excellent Perfect Motion remix. Nope those strings have a far wider legacy than just that progressive track.Collected in danwuh's videos Mar 26, 2012 -
Sharon Brown – I Specialize In Love [1981]
One of those tracks that clearly demonstrates why its such an unmitigated classic. Despite it being a cover, this track shines like the sun with Brown’s vocal talent clearly center stage, dominating the track.Collected in danwuh's videos Mar 22, 2012 -
Aretha Franklin – Think [1968]
Almost immediately after Atlantic released “Baby Sweet Baby” they released this stormer from Franklin, launching a full on Soul Assault in the Billboard Top 100. Another track showcasing why Aretha retains her crowd as the queen of soul, its a high energy relentless soul pounder of biblical proportions.Collected in danwuh's videos Feb 6, 2012 -
Sei A – Frozen Flower (dangerDAN Remix) [2011]
Would you listen to that, just another cracking remix from dangerDan. Heavy on the atmospherics but the synth work in this is fantastic.Collected in danwuh's videos Dec 30, 2011 -
Gobshite (MGC) – Khmenglish [2011]
Yet another belter from Gobshite & MCG, this time wrapping a language lesson up in a rocking break and funky as hell bassline. Its a great showcase for Gob and the boys, with irreverent but effective lyrical gymnastics keeping the track fresh as a daisy.Collected in danwuh's videos Nov 8, 2011 -
Doc Scott – Far Away (Fourteen Flavours of Funk) [1994]
Christ its been a busy week. However, ive been caning some old Jungle mixes while on the burn, featuring stone cold classics like this offering from Doc Scott.Collected in danwuh's videos Sep 2, 2011 -
Thomas Leer & Rober Rental – Day Breaks, Night Heals [1979]
Having come across some random mix on Soundcloud featuring a couple of Industrial Records tracks, ive inadvertently slipped into obscure electronica from the Seventies and Eoghties today. Kicking off with this offensively catchy Oberheim classic from Thomas Leer and Robert Rental.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 13, 2011 -
Bizzare Inc – Playing With Knives (The Climax) [1991]
The perfecty antidote to the full force (and awesome) cheese assault of the original, The Climax mix is a wholly different beat. Slower in tempo, more laid back and chock full of crowd pleasing vocal clips from Kariyah, Holloway et al.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 12, 2011 -
The Octagon Man – Free-er Than Free [1989]
Brutal breakbeat beast from Jonathan Saul Kane aka The Octagon Man. Dripping in Electro tinged synth but featuring a break that had more in common with its hardcore brethren, I would consider this to be a perfect meshing of the two genres.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 12, 2011 -
Castle Trancelott – Indoctrinate [1995]
Belting trance number from Mr Patrick Primms. Its a dark unrelenting tune with some cracking sweeping strings that just soars over your head.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 8, 2011 -
Mary Kiani – Let the Music Play (Perfecto Radio Mix) [1996]
Cracking progressive house banger from Kiani and Perfecto, so much better than the original. I have to admit I do rather like the Perfecto vocal more but since there's no copy of it anywhere, the radio edit will have to do.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 8, 2011 -
Sweep & Linda Carriere – Running Up That Hill (Jam’s Labyrinth Mix) [1994]
If your going to cover Kate Bush, you had better not screw around and full respect has to go to Carriere for taking a quality stab it. Its not Kate and thats a crying shame but regardless of that, this is an incredible rework of a classic.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 6, 2011 -
The Wing Command – Latino Rave ’89 [1989]
This shipped as the promo release for Deep Heat 1989 ~ Fight the Flame, mixed by the then Uncredited "Wing Command" aka M.Kamosi and Thomas de Quincey. I've got to say, for the time, this was one of the biggest and best commercially released mixes in the UK.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 1, 2011 -
Dark Side Of The Shroom – Green Mushroom [1994]
The Dark Side of the Shroom EP is a classic piece of Floridian Breakbeat, post "Miami-Bass" cheese and pre-House Implosion, this is the track Josh Wink wishes he had made instead of that 303 Masturbatory track "Higher State Of Consciousness". Strangely, with such promise, Omar Santana hasnt put out another 12", EP or Album ive liked.Collected in danwuh's videos Jul 1, 2011 -
Deskee – Let There Be House (ABCD Mix 1)[1989]
Originally released as a more Hip-House number, it got re-released early 1990 with some significantly more up to date production. My favourite of these is without a doubt the ABCD1 Mix, its got a huge, banging intro using the fanastic bassline of the original and the Brutal Deluxe sample AND keeps the vocal rap complete out of the picture.Collected in danwuh's videos Jun 29, 2011 -
Friends Of Matthew – Out There [1991]
A total corker from FOM, so named after a friend who was killed around the same time the guys put this cracker out. Its the raw synth that dominates the track, as both the bassline and synth riff.Collected in danwuh's videos Jun 29, 2011 -
Emma Haywoode – Need Your Lovin [1990]
Another track from that great Megabass mix, this one is all about the vocal and the chorus hook for me. The MC needs to go home, likely why ive never heard his part of the track in any mix ive caught this track in.Collected in danwuh's videos Jun 28, 2011 -
Jam Jam – Don’t Look Any Further [1990]
So I fired up Greg Wilson's Glastonbury mix today and what does he open with? A remix, of a remix of Denise Edwards' "Dont Look Any Further".Collected in danwuh's videos Jun 28, 2011 -
Astralasia – Aloo [1994]
A beautiful piece of Psytrace from 1994, with more a focus on the relaxing nature of Goa rather than the up all night with your head full of madness rocking out. Simply breathtaking in its execution, it retains a decent amount of beat so you dont get bored.Collected in danwuh's videos Jun 27, 2011
