“Never Say DIY”: An Interview with Audio Antihero
Label Focus: Audio Antihero
Everyone has a favourite label, even those who call having a favourite musical snobbery can see label’s that stand out a mile ahead of everyone else. Personally, I’m a fan of Dischord, Stones Throw and Smalltown America to name but  a few. One of my more recent discoveries has been one of [...]
Changes
Had a nice week? I made a CD for Uni which was really stressful. But anyway onto the important stuff. This week will probably see me ringing a few changes to this here blog, nothing drastic appearance wise, just content wise, really. Hopefully, I should be able to do a lot more with things then.
Spotify [...]
A Short Break
I think I deserve a little break from writing now Uni is over (and plus I have a collaborative idea for a story about an Algerian card shark). Normal service should be resumed next week.
Anything you want reviewed? All the usual places are available to leave me a shout.
In the meantime, check this [...]
Its That Time Of Year
Sadly I haven’t got time to write anything about them but all the pictures will link to the albums on Spotify.
Top 5 albums
5.  4. 3. BUY THE ALBUM FROM ALL THE USUAL JOINTS. SADLY NOT AVAILABLE ON SPOTIFY. (yes, it had to be in here)
2. 1.

Reissue of the year:

Deadly serious song of the year: [...]
Chuck E Weiss – Old Souls And Wolf Tickets
Blues isn’t something I’m terribly familiar with. I’m a fan of the odd musicians like Muddy Waters and Mississippi John Hurt. I like some Tom Waits songs but haven’t delved deep enough to judge how good he may be. On this basis I was more than happy to listen to a blues record as well [...]
Swell Maps – A Trip To Marineville
Warning: Some of you may be offended by the following tenuous link.
Hey guys! There’s that new Twilight Movie out this week! Rather exciting if you like reading pap. But did you know that it takes until the fourth book, the bloody fourth, to get really mental. Like proper mental. I have it on good [...]
Unfortunately…
…due to circumstances beyond my control (Virgin Media internet is the pits) Dido week has been cancelled. Whilst I’m dancing inside now I will do it again this upcoming week. I know, I can’t believe it either.
But, but, but in the two days this week I’ve had an internet connection I’ve managed to put together [...]
ABC – Lexicon of Love
Ooh, sweeping orchestral opening. Trumpets! Crescendo! Synthy bassy (or Bassey if you prefer) campness! This is quite catchy!
My first thoughts as this album kicked in.
Here come my thoughts after the sixth aural intake of this album presented in the form of a tussle between a the music snob inside me and the camp man [...]
Mudhoney – Piece of Cake
That band that Kurt Cobain liked. The other band from Seattle. The ones that weren’t Nirvana. The ones still together. Just some of the tags that follow Mudhoney and have done consistently throughout their career. I read a few reviews in the run-up to this and there does seem to be a generally unfair consensus [...]
Brokencyde – I’m Not A Fan But The Kids Like It
It’s been an exciting week here at ST HQ. We’ve had our first email! Sent to the address over there, to the right. Get in touch, don’t be shy. Anyway, let me share this email I received with you, dear readers.
Alright Dave (Dan, not Dave) I’m here doing a bit of time (so that’s why [...]
The Bug – London Zoo
You can count the number of times I’ve been to the big smoke on one hand, possibly even with one finger. The last time I visited the capital was for a trip to the Imperial War Museum. So far, so very 2001 school trip-esque. Frequent visitors of the Imperial War Museum, I’d imagine, would listen [...]
Rain Machine – Rain Machine
A lot has happened at Spotify Towers since we last spoke. As that absolute tool on the Spotify adverts puts it, I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve cringed. But here we are, back again for another trawl through the music service’s vaults.
TV On The Radio are one of this decade’s most important bands. My first [...]
