Front
After living close to somebody with Schizophrenia, this production was sparked off by the idea that mental illness perhaps widens the gap between the front we put on in everyday life and the internal cogs that move inside us all. The Direction of the performance aims to disorientate the viewer as much as they might be if they had to live with the condition. Having the character perform and switch between first/ third person, mixing the voices between scenes, having the character answer herself/ contradict hCollected in main_portfolio Sep 28, 2009 -
Alarm
This 1 min film is designed to show the durability of sound to our own imagination. The idea stems from noisy, sleepless nights at a flat I used to live in. It was an interesting project. I didn’t start it in the usual way (planning the narrative). Instead I went around my home recording the sound from different things. I then went back to my sketchbook and started drawing things that I thought the sounds could be. The one that worked best and was most appropriate to my initial influence, was the sound oCollected in main_portfolio Sep 28, 2009 -
Trecatti
Trecatti is a short film, considering the way in which we use the World around us. It is a fictional narrative based on a real place called Trecatti, one of Europe’s largest landfill sites. It also takes bits of reality from Ffos-yFan, an open cast mine in the same area. It stands only 21 yards from the nearest houses in Merthyr Tydfil. The quality of life for the people living in the area of Merthyr Tydfil is already considerably frustrating due to the heavy industry and pollution. Negatives
I made this film because I am curious about negative emotion in design. When all we usually see is happy or quirky in aesthetic, does that automatically make the World a better place? How do you make a visual representation of negative thoughts? – This short non-narrative film hopes to attempt this, drawing influence from German Expressionist films such as Dr Caligari’s Cabinet. Dr Calligari’s, is possibly my favorite old film! I loved the way their sets were achieved with so little. Paper sheets toCollected in main_portfolio Sep 28, 2009 -
Artbombers Interview Title Sequence
In 2008, me and some collaborators went to interview Simon Spilsbury and Rich Chant (aka the Artbombers) for a documentary in Bath. I got to interview them directly and it turned out to be really fun and informative. I also had to make the Motion Graphics for the documentary and this is the final Title Sequence I created. It was a really good chance for me to go crazy with After Effects, because not only are the Artbombers a really fun agency – but the building they have their offices at is out of this wCollected in main_portfolio Sep 28, 2009 -
