Mimas
The amazing talent from Denmark.
I saw these guys a few months back playing in the Cellar in Oxford. Oxford seems to be a bit of a tough crowd to crack, but there they were all getting really into it, with there little heads bopping and their feet tapping along to the mesmerizing melodies. One of our friends even said that his jaw was hurting after the set.
Not only is this band remarkable to watch and listen to, they are really nice guys. We went over to Demark just to hang out with them for a few days, they even cooked us their traditional meal, home made Meatballs and potatoes. Wonderful!
They came back over to the UK a few weeks ago; we went to see them play at Barfly in Camden, London. The venue was absolutely packed; I had never seen it so full. Even the venue said that it was the busiest they had seen it. They were unbelievable; I had never seen anything like it! They have a few songs with really quiet parts in them, and in a room that packed, in London, they we all just standing listening, enjoying! I have seen a few gigs before where it can be really hard for the bands to play parts like that, when the crowd just does not appreciate the music and that can be really sad when people just start talking all over it. This time was different.
As I’m sure some of you have been to the barfly and know that it get ridiculously hot up there, but on this night it was a whole another level. I crept up onto the stairs so I could get above the human heat blanket, also so I could see – I’m not too tall, and I was right at the back. That only lasted so long, for the other bands that played I had to stand at the door and keep it open, I could barely breathe in there! Even with making fans out of BSM/Alcopop flyers, that only kept me going so long. There was a ‘Wall of heat’ at the door, it was so bad as I was standing there keeping it open I got to see people walk into the ‘Wall of heat’ nearly every reaction the same, it was like they had actually walked into
