Montreal's CFCF has his debut EP Parisian Nights out on Paper Bag Records digital, but you can also buy his new seven inch "You Hear Colours/Invitation To Love" from my friend Patrick's Acephale Records. While I don't want to take away from any kind of artistic achievement that is CFCF's EP, if you can only afford to buy one, get the seven inch - vinyl's cooler than mp3s and Patrick will appreciate your business.

Usually big televised anniversary/charity/masturbatory self-congratulation concerts are super lame. But every once in a while, there's a band who's able to trandscend the crappiness of the affair and really rock (see U2 at the Amnesty concert in the 80s). Then there's the VH1 Hip Hop Honours shows. By all accounts these should be incredibly tepid events. But damn if the performances aren't out of this world. Here's a couple of past highlights.
