Greenceed has answered the call to help propel our nation into a new era of sustainability by implementing an innovative and comprehensive national program aimed at raising awareness about how we can build greener communities through Advocacy, Outreach, and Capacity-Building. This initiative, GREEN EMPOWERMENT PROJECT℠ is focused on ensuring environmental sustainability and environmental justice in all communities particularly communities that have historically been negatively impacted due to benign policies, diminished support systems and educationally disengaged from sustainability discussions and decisions. We have observed that disadvantaged communities of color have historically been overburdened by environmental hazards and unhealthy land uses, and underserved by health-promoting infrastructure such as parks, open space, healthy food outlets, good housing stock, medical care facilities, and other amenities due to environmental injustice.
