Customers who vent their anger in social media
We all know that the growth in  web 2.0 has helped to shift power away from brands towards consumers but nothing demonstrates this more clearly than when you see customers using this platform to vent their anger and frustrations.  Whereas in the good old days we’d have to brave the elements and take to the [...]

I believe this funny video is in response to Toyota asking a number of agencies to pitch for their business by implementing live social media campaigns for $15k each. Quite a risky strategy as all pitches will rely on genuine social interactions from the public. Social media isn't an experiment to play around with, it's about building long term relationships and communities.

Proof that social media isn’t a fad
I’m not sure anyone genuinely believes social media is a fad but it still surprises me how much resistance there is to integrating social media within core marketing comms strategies.  One of my clients recently joked, “if Richard mentions social media to me one more time I want someone to chop [...]
First press ad with embedded video
I must say I was impressed with this new technology which enables advertisers to feature a tiny video screen within their magazine print ad.  According to PSFK, CBS used this technology to promote their full line up of CBS shows in a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly.  When the reader turns the page to reveal [...]
It’s official: creativity does work!
Does creativity really make that much difference to campaign effectiveness? This was the question posed by the creative team at George Patterson Y & R.   To prove the case they started The Wicked Sick Project where they basically bought a second-hand bmx on ebay and re-listed it, only this time with a bit more creative [...]
