Do You Love Gay People? - A Love Issue
a2a_linkname=document.title;a2a_linkurl=location.href;

The comments are really revealing as to how blind and hateful some really are. Sadly many do not even realize how hateful their words are... when someone states:

We should love people the way God loves them; with truth, and pure love. There is gay people outthere who would be willing to change their lives and accept Jesus as their personal Savior. We as christians, cannot decide who will accept Jesus or who won't. Our duty is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our own testimony, and with Love. I have known gay people who repented and now are living a normal life (according to God's purpose). Believe me, God can still change people's lives. Let's pray for all those beautiful people (including gay people) who need Jesus as their personal Savior. Amen.

Sadly this is one of the more "loving" comments posted on the site. Yet, when a gay person hears a Christian say the word "change" they hear us saying they must clean up their lives before they come to Jesus! That is NOT the Gospel... We are saved by Grace, straight or gay.

The hate just keeps on coming proving the video over and over again as right on, yet as you can see they are blind to their own hate. It is time to stop hating and start loving... Will you take a stand for Unconditional Love?
John Piper answers: Was Jesus tempted with homosexuality?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWivqRMVkHg

I was a bit amused at John Piper's ability to answer this rather easy question. Though he sort of gives an answer it misses the point as to be tempted is not the same as sinning. One can be tempted, but it is the acting upon the temptation that it becomes sin. Jesus was tempted on three levels by the devil.

Luke 4: 1. Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, 2. where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. 3. The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread." 4. Jesus answered, "It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone.' " 5. The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6. And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7. So if you worship me, it will all be yours." 8. Jesus answered, "It is written: `Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'" 9. The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down from here. 10. For it is written: "`He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;11. they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' " 12. Jesus answered, "It says: `Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' " 13. When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. 14. Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

1. Body = Turn the stones into bread
2. Mind = Throw yourself down from this steeple as God said He would send angles to protect you.
3. Spirit = Worship me (the Devil) and all the world is yours.

Each point was a test for Jesus. He ha
Prophetic voices from unexpected sources: Nobody's Hero ~ Rush
This song is amazing to me on many levels. First the idea that heros are often not the ones that win, but that struggle and lose, yet what they bring to our lives is something triumphant. It is almost unexplainable in a sense, yet in it is death and resurrection. The death of the one that struggled bring a sense and renewl of those around them.

The sencond thing is the humanizing of AIDS and vitims of violent crimes. The first stanza is about a gay man who died of AIDS. According to Wikipedia:

"Nobody's Hero" is a song by Canadian prog-rock band Rush from their album Counterparts. The first stanza deals with the AIDS-related death of a homosexual man named Ellis, a friend of Neil Peart when Peart lived in London. After the chorus, the third stanza speaks of a girl who was murdered in Peart's hometown, Port Dalhousie. The girl is rumored to have been Kristen French, one of Paul Bernardo's victims. The song charted #3 on the U.S. mainstream rock charts.

This made begin to think about who the "heroes" in my life really were and are. Of course Jesus was the greatest Hero to me, that he williingly gave His life for me, to give His life to me, so He can Live His Life through me. How can one not be amazed at this. I am literally resurrected spiritually (and later phyiscially in the New Creation's fulfillment).

Of course Rush is not a "Christian" band, yet, God spoke through a donkey in the OT. God can speak  through me (at times I am not much different than that donkey), so I believe at times God can speak through the poets and musicians at times. As you listen ask yourself, "Who are my heroes?" Ask yourself, "How have I dehumanized others?" Then ask yourself, "How can God change this in me?" Then pray and be open to what God has in store. I am not guarrenteeing this will be an easy road, but then without some pain, their is no real growth. Without some scrifice, thier is no real gain.

"Nobody's Hero"
A song to meditate on... Roses from my friends ~ Ben Harper
I could have treated you better
But you couldn't have treated me worse
But he who laughs last
is he who cries first

Sometimes I feel I know strangers
better than I know my friends
Why must a beginning
be the means to an end?

The stones from my enemies
these wounds will mend
But I cannot survive
the roses from my friends

When the last word has been spoken
and we've bared witness to the final setting sun
All that shall remain is a token
of what we've said and done

When all we've had has been forsaken
And distant church bells no longer ring
That's the sound of a heart taken
and the story of tears from a king

The stones from my enemies
these wounds will mend
But I cannot survive
the roses from my friends

This may be the last time I see you
Forgive me for holding you close
This may be the last time I see you
So of this moment I will make the most

This may be the last time I see you
But if you keep me in your heart
together we shall be eternal
If you believe
we shall never part

The stones from my enemies
These wounds will mend
But I cannot survive
the roses from my friends

Hey Oh, listen what I say oh...
For those who are on Facebook, here is the link to the video.

Not sure why, but this song came on and my mind went to this passage...

John 6:62. What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!63.The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. 64.Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65. He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him." 66. From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
67. "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.
68. Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."
70. Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!" 71. (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)

Holy Roller by Nazareth
This song has always amazed me. These are the same guys that brought us Hair of the Dog and other rockers... yet... they can see the clear hypocrisy in self righteousness. This is better than many sermons I have heard.

Holy Roller

Holy roller, lookin down
Where you think you know
All the answers
Arrogance and pride....are sin
Better look to your, own chances

Chorus:

Holy roller can you save your own soul
Can you save your own soul
Holy roller

Standin, up for jesus
Thats your thing
But youre standin on peoples hearts
Charity is a virtue
To be praised
Better get back on...jesus track

Chorus:

Holy roller, practice what you preach
Heaven, its still within your reach

Holy roller, dont you judge
What you think is goin wrong

Chorus: (2x)

Being "perfect" and being "in Christ"
Interesting to me is that many see the phrase “be perfect” and believe it is not possible when Jesus states, “be perfect” (Matt 5: 48. Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.) At the time Jesus spoke it I think that it was laid out as a challenge for one to “try” to do under the Law, yet was not attainable until after Jesus died and rose again. If you couple that thought with Jesus’ prayer in John 17 he states:

“20. “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21. that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23. I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24. "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25. "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Now in a sense we are not yet “Perfect”… as Paul states; Phil 3: 10. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11. and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Yet Hebrews also states: Hebrews 7:28. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who h

Pastor promotes killing gays.
Methodology without love is not the Gospel. It is sad when the “sinner” shows more love for others than the pastor.Note the logic from the pastor… where have you all heard this sort of logic before? I have... from the ODM's who claim to be above the higher Law of Love. This pastor’s method is not of love… not of God… and is spreading a gospel of hate and fear through judgmentalism and condemnation… And this is what I hear the ODM’s doing… maybe a milder form of it… but deep down it is all the same hate based gospel. Personally I am saddened... and want to apologize to the GLBT community for so called Christians like this and what they say. Hate is not a Christian virtue...

Thanks to Existential Punk for pointing this out.
