I’m just a Girl, Not yet a Woman, Not yet a Whore
Britney inspired piece. I was left breathless from her new video that has sparked controversy. I have gotten a lot of flak for criticizing the portrayl of women on television. I’ve been told that I am a cliched feminist, that I am thinking way too deep about this issue or even that I am hypocritical. I have certainly said my piece. However there’s gotta be something to be said with each new video and each show. I am not satisfied with what I see, this cannot be our political and sexual liberation. There has got to be more….
I know that all of this stuff is just popular culture, but it does seep in to our consciousness and it does help develop our sense of self. It becomes one more thing we have to push away from our identities. Enjoy the show.
