UI Designer/Developer
Vodpod is looking for a talented designer and front-end developer; someone who appreciates great design as much as well-crafted CSS and HTML, and who is available to work full-time in our San Francisco office.
Vodpod is the leading social video service on the web. Over ten million people visit Vodpod every month to find and to watch videos collected by our members, and millions more use our watch videos via our widgets, websites powered by our API, or by our hosted video site solutions (VodSpot). Our registered users -- 1 million strong and counting -- range from 15 year-old anime enthusiasts to editors at Time and the NY Times.
We're funded by TrueVentures (Wordpress, Meebo, StockTwits, Sifteo); we're financially secure but still a small, focused team without the bureaucracy you might find in larger startups.
We're looking for someone who can:
- Design elegant UI for new features, and to refine existing UI for the web, mobile and tablet platforms
- Turn your designs into functional pages with clean, spare and precise HTML and CSS for use by our web developers.
- Help us to dream up new products and services.
- Iterate, a lot, and who loves to continuously improve the service.
Qualifications & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of and expertise crafting XHTML/CSS
- Knowledge and experience with Javascript and JQuery
- Complete comfort with Photoshop
- Strong views about usability and UX -- which web sites or services are good, and why they work
- An eye for typography, whitespace, alignments and attention to detail when transforming design into code
- A love of social media and deep-understanding of what makes services like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Foursquare tick
- An solid understanding of the Android and iOS platforms
- Good sense of humor and an appreciation for web video
Bonus Skills
- Flash and Actionscript development
Having a strong portfolio, and demonstrable experience, that illustrates your craft and your talents and skills is critical. We want to see work you've done.
