Our Administration is confronting challenges to what is known as the 'State Secrets' privilege. This is a doctrine that allows the government to challenge legal cases involving secret programs. Many past Presidents -Republican and Democrat - have used it for many decades. And while this principle is absolutely necessary to protect national security, I am concerned that it has been over-used. We must not protect information merely because it reveals the violation of a law or embarrasses the government. That is why in government, state/public and private organizations have financial crisis and budget crisis. Many business establishments are closing down because of economic downturn and I know most of us blame it to government misleads. In relation to this, did you hear the news about Sunshine Dodge? She was among the dealership closed by Chrysler as they entered bankruptcy. The owner, George Joseph, has posted an open letter to Chrysler, in which he explains his situation. His inventory will be taken and redistributed, including vehicles and parts, and he won't be getting any compensation. The company won’t pay off the guaranteed loans he got to renovate the dealership at Chrysler’s request, and he'll be left holding the bag. This only means bankruptcy for him and his family, unemployment for his employees, and no debt consolidation for Sunshine Dodge. I just hope he will survive this kind of bad luck. And especially, let’s hope for economy stability as soon as possible. Let’s demand for financial transparency, because we, common people suffered most in economic recession.
