Mystie Chamberlin , aka Just Another Folk Singer, moved from IL to NYC in May 2006. Since 2004 she’d worked w/ the Antagonist Movement. Her 1st band, ThrowAway Grrls, played the Bowery Ballroom opening for Mr. Brownstone. After the break-up, she learned guitar. In 2008, she sang & played w/ The Merch Grrls (she sold merch for NY & Chicago bands including Cameron McGill, Jesse Malin, & Marah). By 2009, she went solo, but had stage-fright. She still tried since her ex advised she play at least 100 times. She played #100 on Feb. 26, 2010 opening for Jesse Malin. Her first recording, The Devil & the Deep Blue Sea (May 2010), was produced, recorded & arranged by Mark Suall (The Revelons). That same yr. she collaborated w/ Tommy London (The Dirty Pearls) on a duet & with Leah Lax on a song, Guitar & Heart Strings. W/ David Fleming she performs songs as Teh Typos (a name from Rhett Miller). She participates in various arts & in writing workshops w/ Pamela Des Barres (the GTO’s).
