Kevin Alexander Gray Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best selling novel of the 19th century. It was credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. It depicted the reality of slavery while asserting that love can overcome something as destructive as enslavement of fellow human beings. It also played a role in teh start of the Civil War.
