I love St Vincent
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lan-UQfN0zs&feature=channel_page]

Talented, gorgeous, plays guitar, great taste in music and a mean sense of humour. What's not to love?

Little bit dissapointed that I'm seeing Grizzly Bear later this month rather than their October St Vincent supported LSO date. Though I'm sure hearing the original composition of Veckatimest will make up for hearing St Vincent again or any silly orchestra back them.

Regina Spektor's new song is really, really sweet
Ok. This is the perfect remedy to the po-faced piety of Laughing With. It's just as simplistic, but so much more fun, unpretentious and with just a little pinch of playful self deprecation that nicely erases the horrible image of her I had after Laughing With.

Even the one camera, lo-fi setup of the video is miles better than the mid 90s styled, surrealist acid trip of the last video. If only because it's quite hypnotic to watch her boobs bounce as she crosses the road (sorry).

Regina Spector's new song and video is really, really bad

Regina Spektor's always been an artist I've always wanted to get into, but as many times as I've been drawn into her by a song, there's been a time where I've something that really grinds my gears. I've never really been a fan of 'minimal' stripped down singer-songwriter 'guff' and she's always toed that line between earnest sentimentality and trite banality.

This song and this video is an example of the times she's grinded my gears...

Operation Humble Kanye: An Update
Probably one of the stranger musical 'beefs' but definitely one of the funniest.

My favourite bits from the past two videos being:

"Why buy Kanye's album? You can basically hear it for free. Just put a tin can to your ear and lean against a 'Pac-Man' machine."

"Sir, you are not the voice of this generation of this decade. Infact with all the autotuning on your records you're barely the voice of your own albums"

And Kanye's witty reposte:

'Who the fuck is Stephen Colbert?'
'Who the Fuck Is Stephen Colbert?'

And Kanye's response:

On a related note, here's a snippet of that 'sunglasses display mannequin' from one of this year's last big releases - Common's Universal Mind Control.

Jack White/Alica Keys Bond Theme gets first airing - In a Coke advert
I first posted news about this interesting collaboration back in late July. I didn't really expect to hear any of "Another Way To Die" until the Quantum of Solace's actual release, or perhaps a few days before it, but here is a small snippet of it - In an advert for Coke Zero.

Instrumentally, from this clip at least, it doesn't sound that weird or left field as you would imagine a collaboration between Jack White and Alicia Keys to sound. Infact it sounds remarkably, well, Bondish.

New Crystal Castles Video - "Crimewave (Crystal Castles VS. Health)" - Video - Stereogum

Crystal Castles have always come across as the token 'electro' band for NME readers and alts who would like to at least try and present a thin veneer of 'open mindedness' and having a wide taste in music. When in reality they exclusively listen to increasingly derivative guitar bands, like The Pidgeon Detectives and The Enemy, borne out of some misguided brand loyalty.

They certainly didn't waste any time making another video. This one is directed by Richard Ayoade again and sees the Vampire Weekend boys being converted to goths by a mysterious flame haired social reject. Maybe this is the explaination for such an upbeat band having such a dark sounding name?

The rise and rise of Vampire Weekend over the past seven months has been really impressive from a commercial point of view. And u
