Oxfam cash-for-work program, Haiti earthquake response
Oxfam has launched several cash-for-work projects, which give those living in camps a chance to earn an income while improving their environment by building latrines and clearing rubble. Cash in hand helps earthquake survivors stay in the driver’s seat in their own recovery - able to purchase what they most want and need, such as the food that is now available on the streets of Port-au-Prince. Those purchases in turn support local suppliers and begin to bring Haiti’s economy back to life.Collected in Catastrophes naturelles Feb 9, 2010 -

UNICEF: Appeal for Haiti (60-second PSA)
UNICEF has joined the United Nations appeal for $562 million for humanitarian operation in Haiti. The appeal seeks to provide resources to help 3.5 million people for the next 6 months. Key among the urgent needs are life-saving supplies of food, water, medicines and shelter. Given that nearly 50 per cent of Haiti's population is under the age of 18, UNICEF has a particularly critical role to play and is seeking approximately $120 million for its work as part of the humanitarian relief efforts.Collected in Catastrophes naturelles Feb 9, 2010 -
