Do yourself a favor and watch the Watchmen opening credits
Devin Faraci at CHUD.com posted this from the original site (you can read about that chud.com) - Whether you see the movie or not, I believe you should watch these opening credits. Some of the best work I have ever seen to 1. introduce a vaguely familiar but alternate universe, 2. encapsulate the history of the main characters. 3. Create art from works of art. What other opening credits have blown you away? My review of the movie will be going up soon - but for now - do yourself a favor and watch the opeCollected in mladding's videos Mar 7, 2009 -
SXSW Trailers: Little Pumpkin
This is by far one of my favorite short films from the circuit this year (and last year when I saw it). Tiffany Bartok, also producer of The Cake Eaters, created this - A Q&A will be forthcoming.Collected in mladding's videos Mar 6, 2009 -
SXSW Trailer: NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET
Sigh, another one that doesn't play until after I leave Austin. This is a great subject - I look forward to hearing more about it...Collected in mladding's videos Mar 1, 2009 -
SXSW Trailer: Lesbian Vampire Killers
Sadly this plays after I leave Austin but it looks HYSTERICAL. I will be looking to hear more on this one from the critics that get to stick around during the entire fest. You can never really tell from a campy trailer - is it going to be really funny or terribly dumb? The good news - it is British - meaning that the former is more likely the case.Collected in mladding's videos Mar 1, 2009 -
SXSW Trailer: Sons of a Gun
Holy crud - I am rethinking my schedule now after finding the trailer of this documentary playing at SXSW. Alcoholism, mental illness, struggle. Sounds like a recipe for a tearjerker doc.Collected in mladding's videos Mar 1, 2009 -
SXSW Trailer: For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Film Criticism
My two favorite things: movies and people who write about movies combine in the new documentary by Gerald Peary. I wonder - will film critics line up to see or is this a topic too familiar to watch? The doc has had two work-in-progress screenings before SXSW but this marks the premiere of the completed version. Expect interviews with some of the greats along with a historical perspective on the field. Oh and in case you don't know his film criticism work, Gerald Peary is one of those greats. SXSW Trailer/Review: Make-Out with Violence
Sometimes I forget how much I love this movie, then I watch the trailer and I remember. The filmmakers just won Best Feature at the Oxford Film Festival but they have been playing the regional fest circuit for a little while. I first saw it at Indie Memphis where I made Elvis Mitchell spill all of his popcorn onto OFF Co-Director Michelle Emanuel. (sorry, friends) Ahem, pay attention - if you see nothing else at SXSW - see this. My review is here.Collected in mladding's videos Feb 28, 2009 -
Adventureland
I can't see this at SXSW but luckily it is coming out in theaters right after so expect to hear lots more on this little comedy.Collected in mladding's videos Feb 26, 2009 -
sxsw's Channel
One of the many documentaries playing at SXSW that I am looking forward to seeing. Now thanks to the new SXSW YouTube channel - anyone can see all the trailers, talks, interviews and more.Collected in mladding's videos Feb 26, 2009 -
Batey Debatey Film
Rebecca Batey and Joe York of Ole Miss Media Productions put this doc together and it just got forwarded to me. A great little doc on the craziness that occurred in Oxford around the debate.Collected in mladding's videos Feb 26, 2009 -
