This is a really great interview with Ron Paul from yesterday on MSNBC. He explains a little bit about the difference between Austrian and Keynesian economics, and why Keynesian economics has gotten us into so much trouble. Too bad that Congress didn't listen to him back then, but maybe they will be a little more attentive to him now. Ron Paul is still my choice for President!

We had a fantastic time at the CrossWay Arts Festival this evening. The highlight for me was at the very end when Wesley and his friends played. In case you can't tell, Wesley is the bass player in the black muscle shirt. Wesley wrote most of the song, although he says it really was a group effort. They sounded great. I'm really proud of all of them. Can't wait until their first album comes out!

You people probably think all I do is hang around the bird cage all day long! There are other things going on in my life, really. I took this video on Thursday, so the birds were one day short of two weeks old. The chirping you hear is not the babies; it's the parents, who are outside the nest. One of the babies seems to be very curious about the camera lens. I don't expect them to stay in the nest much longer.

The babies are a week old now. They have really grown! It's so cool to see their little pin feathers growing in on their wings and tail. They're also starting to open their eyes a tiny bit. The parents have been leaving them unattended in the nest a lot of the time, so I'm able to get more pictures of them. They're still pretty ugly, but they're starting to look more like finches. Christianne thinks these videos are boring, but maybe you'll enjoy them. I like them, anyway!

Can you stand another video of my zebra finches? Tough! I'm gonna post it anyway. Here's the mother bird, Angie, feeding her four little babies. They are 1-2 days old and very hungry. If you listen carefully, you can hear them making little peeping sounds. I guess they'll be getting a lot louder in no time!

We now have two baby birds in the nest. Two more to go. I managed to get a little bit on video to show you. They are kinda ugly right now, but also kinda cute. The parents have been feeding the babies with their own regurgitated food. It’s so amazing to see how the parents instinctively know how to care for their young. It speaks to me of the unsurpassed wisdom and creativity of our God!

Wow, this is an excellent explanation of the American form of government. It explains the difference between a democracy (bad) and a republic (good - what our founding fathers originally intended). It demonstrates how a republic can transition to a democracy and then to an oligarchy (rule by an elite group), using Rome as an example from history.
