"Drift" Trailer, a Confluence Films Production
Bec and I fly out Saturday to Denver for the annual industry “bum struggle” _ thank my father for the colorful Aussie colloquialism _ the Fly Fishing Retailer show.

Sorry to those who I had to put off this weekend but I’m back on deck Thursday. I’ll be checking emails and so on, hopefully even blogging some posts, but between Flylife and Mountain River duties, its a hectic few days, tantalisingly close to all the new stuff you want to try out, and a big hunk of great water I’ve never fished.

High water fly fishing is different for sure and its great for the fish. Not only are the fish growing fast they are in great nick. Trout that have been in the waterway for a few months, have been through the fishy equivalent of boot camp, and would pull your average stocker inside out.

Vernon Jones has caught permit, steelhead and more but even he was surprised at they way these fish are pulling for their size.

Lots of fun

The Moron Brothers
Its not often we would post two items from the same source in the same issue but we can't help ourselves.

You have to admire their enthusiasm, but I have to admit my first throughts were "oh no please don't let this be in Arkansas". Thankfully its on the Kentucky River
Stu and his amazing feeding trout
Stu Tipney is fast becoming one of our favorite lunatics, since we acquired a copy of his first film Foam Oddessy we obtained from mutual friends. If you were at Conclave last year you might have seen Chad tying some of Stu's foam patterns. We were keen to sell the DVD, but blame For-Ex speculation, globalisation or whathave you it all ended up in the two hard basket. But we are aiming to get the DVD in for Conclave this year.

Anyway for this week's video we thought this excerpt of feeding trout footage
Leningrad Cowboys & Red Army Choir - SWEET HOME ALABAMA
Its late Sunday night and the Journal really should be tying some streamers for the week ahead but instead I'm perusing blogs and processing some pics.
But this cover posted up on the Trout Underground.com Blog has me amused, so we'll inflict it on you too

Redneck Fishing Tournament
Gives whole new meaning to fly fishing .... some entertainment and a little education about the problems of introduced species
How to tie a clouser part 1
If you are somewhere on warmwater this weekend and you see a guy in a canoe with a bent fly rod most of the time it will be our old mate Chad Johnson. Chad was in yesterday raving about recent times on Crooked Creek and the Buffalo river. Storms put paid to the fishing last weekend but he’s sure to be out this weekend.
His fly of choice a sparse, subtle tie of a tan Clouser Minnow.

The Clouser surely has to be one of the greatest of all ties, originally a smallmouth pattern from vise of Bob C
Video Of The Week _ North Fork Fishing
If you really want to see what the North Fork can produce check out this video from Brian Wise, who we floated with on Sunday.

Flylife Video _ issue 52
Great new video feature from one of the world’s finest magazine’s Flylife.

The video, by staff photog Brad Harris, chronicles drift boat floating on the Tumut River in eastern Australia.

We now have issue 52 of the magazine in stock which also features articles on the famed Tongariro River in NZ, stunning photos of sailfish on fly off Malaysia, and more.

If you are bored with your cu
Monster Bonefish - The Search - Tahiti
You have to see this video of monster bonefish in the backblocks of Tahiti. An early release copy, courtesy of the Journo’s Kiwi mates arrived last week and we have been blown away by some of the footage. Nick Reygaert, one of the principles in and behind this film was involved in the first two Trout Bums movies, and has led a pretty impressive effort. It was also neat to see one of the Journal’s fellow writers Craig Worthington in the film, particularly his work on some huge Napoleon Wrasse is mindblow
