He prefers QuarkXPress instead of InDesign and preflights both the open files with FlightCheck Professional as well as the resulting PDF. Henno sends both a press-quality PDF as well as the FlightCheck collected QuarkXPress job with all fonts and images to the printer. Claims it is the only smart way to send print-work to the printer, for otherwise they are calling you late in the day needing corrections and changes, when if they have the open file it is much easier for them to fix it on the spot. He uses ID2Q or Markzware’s InDesign to QuarkXPress XTension to convert customer work that comes in as Adobe InDesign into his preferred layout application, QuarkXPress 7. Watch the interview below:
