The Onion News Network has put together a wonderful spoof of an interview with the publisher of a cross-generational bestselling picture book: Green Man, Blue Cat.

Why are the books so popular? Fans believe they "fill a void left in contemporary literature which tends to favor stodgy tomes with hundreds of pages and almost no pictures."

not sure why ALA is taking so long on rolling these out, but enjoy. "Tender Morsels" is a phenomenal and sometimes brutal fantasy revealing the dangers of one's dreams coming true.

Sixty years of Harlequin covers are on display at the Openhouse Gallery in NYC for another week. the exhibit marks the 60th anniversary of the publisher which, unbeknown to me, started out as pulp adventure fiction for men. over 100 original works of art are included along with commentary on how the covers reflect the changing societal roles and portrayal of women.

a very nervous looking Neil Gaiman visited the Colbert Report to exchange words about "The Graveyard Book" - apparently, the key to winning the Newbery is doom and gloom.

" Says Pogue, "The Kindle is the most successful electronic book-reading tablet so far, but that’s not saying much; Silicon Valley is littered with the corpses of e-book reader projects." both nominated for a Grammy in the 'Best Spoken Word' category, Stephen Colbert challenged Steve Martin to a narrator duel by reading a passage from a Danielle Steel novel (about the 4 minute mark). incidentally, neither won, the Grammy went to Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" read by a trio of celebrities.
