Originado a mediados del siglo XX, siendo un genero de la ciencia-ficción completamente distinto al estándar que se tiene normalmente de este.

Resumido el género bajo la frase alta tecnología y bajo nivel de vida es el mejor genero a la hora de mostrar una perfecta anti-utopia de lo que el ser humano logrará a futuro si continua dentro de su avance tecnológico, corrompiéndose a si mismo en todo sentido de la palabra. sin mencionar que para el año en que se hizo, inicio muchos topicos y temas a tratar que no se habian tomado en cuenta con mucha profundidad hasta entonces en otros generos.
