Rayleigh-Bénard Convection with Imposed Heat Flux
Hans Johnston and Charles Doering
High resolution direct numerical simulations of two-dimensional Rayleigh--Bénard convection for which the heat flux at the boundary is fixed, modeling the scenario when the boundary plates are poor conductors compared to the fluid. The parameters are Prantdtl number Pr =1 and Rayleigh number Ra=1.04x1010. The flow was computed using a Fourier--Chebyshev spectral method for the Boussinesq equations. One way that the fixed-flux Rayleigh--Bénard problem differs qualitativel
