OneMoreTune meets Mark Geary
OneMoreTune meets New Amusement
HWCH 2007 as their starting point, a day at Oxegen from a band’s point of view, vinyl-shaped new songs, why Frankie would love to spend a day as a member of Fight Like Apes
What are you guys called??
Who: New Amusement (Dublin)
Latest record: Any port in a storm (any other city, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/newamusement
Our favourite video: cecil live at HWCH 2008
Where we met: whelans upstairs
Why we like them: because whitewash is a great song!
Behind the scenes: after the interview we told New Amusement that Ham Sandwich had mentioned them when we asked about their favourite new bands. The guys we’re so mortified for forgetting to mention Ham Sandwich as their dream band to play with for a day. Actually, they went and check out our interview before they started the gig (!). When we approached them to say goodbye after the gig they were still regretting not to have mentioned them, so now we feel like we should clarify this: Ham Sandwich, in case you’re reading this, New Amusement love you too.
OneMoreTune meets Wallis Bird
Dublin’s music scene compared to London’s, the love involved when being endorsed by Lakewood Guitars, her writer’s block and how the new album is taking shape through different moods and different sounds.

There’s a lot of love going into my guitars
Who: wallis bird
Latest record: spoons (universal, 2007)
Online: myspace.com/wallisbird and wallisbird.com
Our favourite video: blossoms in the street
Where we met: the button factory
Why we like her: how couldn’t we? she’s the best live act we’ve seen in years.
Behind the scenes: well, as you probably noticed from Wallis’ words, the interview was done around Halloween. It took us a while to post it..sorry about that. Anyway, there is no particular ‘behind the scenes’ related to that occasion. We got stuck in the traffic and, because of our delay in reaching the venue, we got only 5 mins left to do the (super quick) interview. Nothing much to highlight, really.
The real behind the scenes happened a month later, when we went to see Wallis playing solo at Crawdaddy (outstanding performance!). The first unexpected thing was spotting Lisa Hannigan in the audience (and if you’re curious about Lisa’s opinion on Wallis Bird, check this out). The second was..getting to know Wallis’ parents! This happened by chance as ourselves and Wallis’ mother were both in the Crawdaddy smoking area. We just started to chat about food and the weather (our main interests besides music) and we ended up spending about an hour with her and her husband telling us lots of funny stories. Great parents! In case you are reading this, guys, we hope you liked this video interview with your daughter :) See you at Wallis’ next concert in Dublin!
OneMoreTune meets The Coronas
Hightlights of 2008, their American tour, differences between the American and the Irish audience, encouraging fans to play their songs by publishing guitar tabs on their official site, fans gone crazy..
Who: The Coronas (Dublin)
Latest record: Heroes or Ghosts (3ù Records, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/coronaband and thecoronas.net
Our favourite video: decision time
Where we met: the olympia theatre
Behing the scenes: while waiting for the interview, we saw the soundcheck of the band and the string quartet. the sound the in empty olympia theatre was mind-blowing. we filmed a few seconds which we might upload soon. so, check again this page in the next days! ;)
OneMoreTune meets The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock
The revolutionary roots of the band’s name, their Japanese tour, finding the first record deal, how and why the Ballroom of Romance got started 7 years ago, how the Dublin music scene has recently changed.
Irish folk trad is based on a single note (…) so I saw a great potential for crossover with a sort of noise rock and shoegazing a lot of noisy guitar rock.
Who: The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock (Dublin)
Latest record: The Spook of the Thirteenth Lock (Transduction Records, 2008)
Online: myspace.com/thespookofthethirteenthlock and thirteenthlock.net
Our favourite video: the spook of the thirteenth lock live at road records
Where we met: lower deck (before the january ballroom of romance - allen is the organiser of this cool montly event)
Why we like them: for their peculiar sound and their admirable ability to merge traditional Irish music and a noise (sometimes even metal) attitude. plus, their melodies are so great to sing along!
Behind the scenes: this is one of the few out-door interviews that we’ve done so far. it was filmed just outside the lower deck (in portobello square), by the gran canal. probably in the background you won’t see much more than the heavy friday night traffic, however we were standing just a couple of metres away from the water and from some nice swans. the most romantic spot for our interviews so far.
OneMoreTune meets I’m from Barcelona
Music shared with friends, how to keep up the mood while touring with 20 other people, the new sound in “Who Killed Harry Houdini?”, Emanuel’s favourite song, Houdini as a member of the band..
I knew for the very first moment that this was supposed to be shared with all my friends
Who: I’m from Barcelona (Jönköping, Sweden)
Latest record: Who Killed Harry Houdini? (EMI, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/imfrombarcelona and imfrombarcelona.com
Our favourite video: gunhild
Where we met: the academy
Why we like them: we’ve always had a soft spot for Nordics
Behind the scenes: before starting the interview, we explained emanuel how we structure our interviews (= you don’t hear us asking the questions in the final cut). and he went like “oh yes, so I reply and then you can write a totally different question’?”. LOL (was it that obvious? :P)
:)
OneMoreTune meets Wildbirds & Peacedrums
Band names discarded before “Wildbirds & Peacedrums” came up, music as a family affair, recording in a mobile studio, new songs, the sources of inspiration, the many possible meanings and the essence of their music..
Freedom and foreverness..

Who: Wildbirds & Peacedrums (Sweden)
Latest record: Heartcore (Leaf Label, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/wildbirdsandpeacedrums
Our favourite video: this live version of doubt/hope
Where we met: crawdaddy
Why we like them: because their music is wild and free.
Behind the scenes: the night wildbirds & peacedrums played at crawdaddy, calexico had a sold-out show at tripod (next door). the swedish duo was given free passes to go and see them, and that’s what they did while their own support act was playing :)
OneMoreTune meets Story of Hair
All the possible implications between hair and the band’s name, their first time in terms of releasing a single, shooting a video and having a gig as headliners, dublin as a milestone.
Definitely this scene is a milestone…
Who: Story of Hair (Mayo/Tipperary/Dublin)
Latest record: Cheap Rate (Plugged in Pig Records, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/storyofhair and storyofhair.com
Our favourite video: nanny natch
Where we met: crawdaddy
Why we like them: this will surely be the most inappropriate comparison they heard about, anyway, we liked them at first sight because they reminded us of the evergreen Swedish legend ABBA :D
OneMoreTune meets Roots Manuva
The feeling behind “Slime and Reason”, “Let the Spirit” and gospel music in the hip hop era, funny memories about his collaboration with Damon Albarn and Gorillaz, a secret project about children’s books and bananas.
My trademark is to keep it off the normal thinking…
Who: Roots Manuva (UK)
Latest record: Slime and Reason (Big Dada, 2008).
Online: myspace.com/rootsmanuva and rootsmanuva.co.uk
Our favourite video: witness the fitness
Where we met: the academy
Why we like him: since we first watched the video for “witness the fitness” he instantly became our heroe. that’s class, man!
Behind the scenes: when we meet artists or artists’ managers and they hear our names they usually go like “are you spanish?” (no, we are italian). but this time it was different. when we introduced ourselves to roots manuva’s manager Iain he said “nice irish names!”. pretty memorable :D
OneMoreTune meets The Kinetiks
How the band got together two years ago and moved the first steps, their upcoming EP, their favourite venue to play in Dublin, a different Irish band that they’d like to join for a day.
Who: The Kinetiks
Latest record: debut 4 track EP to be released soon
Online: myspace.com/kinetiks1
Our favourite video: their performance at the balcony tv video music awards 2008
Where we met: the academy
Why we like them: they are fresh and full of hopes, that makes us want to support them.
OneMoreTune meets Langhorne Slim
Lovesongs in a broader sense, being political without singing about government politics, Obama Vs McCain (the day before the actual election), how his friendship with Brian Deck started, duets more of less likely to happen.
(Question: Who would you like to duet with?) “Barbara Streisand, but I don’t think she’ll be interested in doing that..
Who: langhorne slim (new york, US)
Latest record: langhorne slim (kemado)
Online: myspace.com/langhorneslim and langhorneslim.com
Our favourite video: restless
Where we met: sugar club
Why we like him: his “when the sun’s gone down” is one of the few CDs that we brought to ireland when we moved from italy. for some unknown reason, it sounds like home to us.
Behind the scenes: the interview was done the day before Barack Obama was elected.
