Nights in White Satin iTunes Promo with The Moody Blues
The only song in music history to have made the US pop charts three different times in its original version (in 1967, 1972 and 1979), "Nights of White Satin" has connected with music fans forever. This rare video shows The Moody Blues playing their signature song at the time of it's release at the seminal Speakeasy Club, the venue where artists as diverse as Bob Marley to Elton John launched their careers. Now available for purchase and download on iTunes, this video was digitally re-mastered from the original film elements, and is an important artifact from the archives of music history. . McCartney was supported by an "all star" band including Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Elton John, Mark Knopfler, Ray Knight, and others. At the time, McCartney said "It's just a thrill to play with musicians of this calibre...cause it was a birthday thing, they wanted to do something a bit silly at the end, and that's me!!"
Now on iTunes: Iggy Pop Performance of "The Passenger" (1977)
Purchase on iTunes Iggy Pop was invited to appear on the British TV program, So It Goes, and the complete, unedited version of his 1977 performance is now available for download and purchase on iTunes Stores. This controversial performance has been blamed for the cancellation of the TV series, which had introduced bands like The Clash and The Sex Pistols to British television for the first time, and which is the subject of the cult movie "24 Hour Party People." Now, over thirty years later, the entire performance and the complete interview with host Tony Wilson are finally out of the archives and available for viewing. This is a true collectible artifact of music history, and a reminder of a time when music was urgent, dangerous, and irresistible. Purchase on iTunes Stores A recently discovered, color video performance of The Four Tops performing "I Can't Help Myself" (often slated with its subtitle, "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) is now available for download and purchase on iTunes stores worldwide. This wonderful performance was recorded on March 15, 1970 for Sir David Frost's "Frost on Sunday" variety show (yes, the same David Frost who would conduct a series of interviews with Richard Nixon later in the decade). The song reached Number One on Billboard's Pop chart, starting June 12, 1965, and was a Number One hit on the UK Pop charts as well. Written by legendary song-writing team Holland Dozier Holland, "I Can't Help Myself" is listed at No. 415 on Rolling Stone magazine's "Greatest Songs of All Time." We also have an equally rare performance of The Four Tops singing "Reach Out I'll Be There" in Paris, which is available for purchase and sale on iTunes. One of the most significant moments in rock history, Bob Dylan's performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival is still generating its share of controversy. By bringing an electric guitar to a folk festival, Dylan took his audience into a new world that was loud, fearless, and ready for a fight.
