Glenn Beck 9/12 Project
I was working and not able to attend. However, I'd like the chance to make a couple of points about the 'tea parties'.
First, the tea parties should be directed at federal government centralization, of which the Republican Party has been equally guilty of expanding along with the Democrats... In other words, this isn't a problem we have with Democrats, for the Republicans are just as guilty. Rather, this discontent is motivated by a Federal Government that seems hell bent on obtaining so much power that all Americans, both libs and cons, have become equally discontent... granted the recent election of a dem has quieted lib's concerns about the erosion of civil liberties and the perpetual military police state we maintain both at home and abroad...
Secondly, the grassroots movement towards limited government is a movement that should be welcomed by both libs and dems, since the benefits of limiting Washington D.C. in exchange for more control within our state legislatures, is a change that both libs and cons will benefit from.
Once the federal government has all the power, won't libs be discontent and scared when the cons are in control? and likewise the other way around? The simple solution is to limit the Federal Government according the restraints defined within the U.S. Constitution via our Founders.
The outcome of which would be a great benefit to both dems and repubs. Currently libs aren't worried because they have a democratic house, senate, and oval office.... but what happens when the repubs take over those positions?
You see my point... the solution is to limit the federal government and allow the states to make more decisions for themselves....
Of course, this discussion is only one part of the many changes needed to hold our precious Union together...
If you disagree or have comments please feel free to share them here as I would very much like to hear the ideas of my fellow countrymen...or countrywomen.....
