responsibledog Sunny just arrived! I have not seen him in a couple of years. He has met Darwin, a resident dog. At that time Darwin was fairly new for me, adopted at 14 months. I'm really pleased with his dog/dog socialization skills. However, this is completely a contextual event and one should not expect the same result in the future!

responsibledog Practicing fetch and retrieve to earn am meal. We've changed location from hallway to kitchen, substrate from carpet to tile and we let Boudicca walk around as a distraction!

responsibledog Boudicca already knows "pick up toys" trained originally in small segments using hand targeting, clicker, food treats and foundation behaviors. In this video, i'm priming her to do the same task using a toy as reward. In the beginning, I'm making the connection, this was all it took. Boudicca picks up multiple toys, putting them away, before final reward.

responsibledog This was not a well planned filming! Darwin acts like a loon when it's time to eat, he spins around, play bows, and just generally acts like a nut! What i should have done was preset the video camera then allowed them to relax again. This might have provided the spontaneity i wanted. Also, don't expect robotic trained behavior with my dogs, yes, they know signals and are well-behaved. However, I do not compete with my dogs, so i'm not concerned about perfection and in Boudicca's case, she's a Jack Russell

responsibledog APTD Train Your Dog Month Boudicca Learning Pick Up Your Toys. I will slowly add additional objects, sometimes having to return to previous rungs in the ladder, example today is an excellent example when training should be stopped because Boudicca was not focused as previously shown. However, knowing her, she's fearless, smart and a Jack Russell, continuing will not affect her future training!
