Attention ‘Billies: Flick For You At The Plaza
Former Riverside resident (graduate of Poly ‘81) and current rockabilly filmmaker Elizabeth “Betty” Blozan is showing her film “Rebel Beat: The Story of LA Rockabilly” tonight at the Riverside Film Fest.  Ms. Blozan will be at the Fest to answer questions and give away CDs and posters.  The film shows at 6:45 at the Plaza’s Regal theater.  From the film’s Myspace page and website, it looks great.  Love the scene and hope it does well!
Here’s a little teaser:

Riverside California Puppy Mill Hell Hole
A documentary about 62 dogs who were rescued from a hellish situation.Very sad. The dogs are so cute and even if they weren’t, it would still be horrible.

Election Results (and Whats Up With The Electoral College?)
Congrats President-Elect Barack Obama.
For Riverside County election results, check out voteinfo.net.  You can watch our county’s ballots being counted live on that site as well.   The thing about California is that our polls just closed an hour or so ago and we won’t really know the results for a while.
Do you want to know more about the election process?  Especially that pesky “Electoral College”?  Check out HowStuffWorks for articles on the Electoral College and the other election info.

Bob Ross’ Birthday!
Today, October 29th, is Bob Ross‘ birthday.  Bob, as you undoubtedly know, was the famous instructional painter and host of the series “The Joy of Painting”.   If you have never watched a show, look it up or Tivo one and check him out.   One encounter with his kind, patient spirit and you will be a fan too.  I have recently taken up painting again so I celebrate Bob on his birthday today!

The Olympics Are Here (or in Beijing)!!!
Last night (Friday, 8.8.0 was the official opening of the Summer Olympics, being held this year in Beijing, China.  Wow, was the opening not the hands down, best Olympics opening ever?  I was held, mouth agape, in utter awe during the performances, especially the Thai Chi masters running in their circular patterns.  I watched the first 15 nations make it around the arena, turned away to watch “Once Upon A Time In Mexico” then turned back just in time to watch Yao Ming and the school boy march in for

Tom Sends Katie To Local Scientology Boot Camp
Haha this “news” is straight from x17 so it may not be completely true but it was enlightening. Purportedly Tom Cruise sent Katie to Gold Base, a Scientology compound in Hemet, for some intense indoctrination spiritual counseling. Who knew there was such a place as Gold Base, right in our own backyard? Apparently a lot of people, just not me.
