It’s been soooo windy here all day and all the trees have been doing the stanky leg. Well, the tree version anyway.
I just took this little vid of the bamboo in my backyard….I love how it dances in the wind and the clicking of the canes as they bump booties.Can you hear it?

I went out last night with friends to Pyrate Con in the quarters and then to Rock ‘n Bowl to see Big Chief Monk Boudreaux. Had a great time & took a few pix. ( It was my unofficial BD bash grrls nite out.)

So just now, after I uploaded the pix, I found I had 3 little mini-movies. Huh? I didn’t even know my camera did that and I certainly didn’t (don’t!) know how to make it do that. What a great surprise and, best of all, I made 3 little snippets of Big Chief.
So here’s the experiment. Keep in mind I am so not a tech geek. I’m going to see if I can figure out how to post them here. *Drum roll*

Well it looks like they’ve posted ok. Now to click “publish” and we’ll see.
Ohhh…those little snippets make me want more! I am seriously going to study the camera manual.

I just love this live video of Cyndi singing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun on Japanese TV. (They don’t quite know what to think of her!) It’s a really fun video and a cool mash up of Hey Now and GJWHF. You gotta see it, especially if you’re a Cyndi Lauper fan.

I’ve just finished watching O Brother Where Art Thou for the second time. I wasn’t crazy about it the first time except for the music - this time I enjoyed it more and especially the music. I’ve always liked Bluegrass although I couldn’t tell you who any of the “greats” are or name any particular song. I just like it when I hear it for 2 reasons: sometimes it makes me happy with all the banjo strumming and I find the lyrics honest, true and profoundly American.
So hearing references to different counties & towns in Mississippi (Ita Bena, Yazoo) is making me wax nostalgic on this overcast New Orleans day. I’m in day 3 of round 2 of the Great New Orleans Coughing Crud of 2009, so I’m taking it easy in hopes of being somewhat healthy again in the next few days.
Watching this movie prompted me to go to my Rural Mississippi Flickr Set and revisit some of the photos I’ve taken in rural Mississippi and I thought I’d share a few today. It’s a beautiful, wild countryside. Enjoy.
