Today, Sunday Loon Watch focuses on former Republican Senator Arlen Specter’s interview on Meet the Press.

In the interview, Specter came out clearly and unambiguously against a key part of President Obama’s health care reform plan, the establishment of an optional public health plan. (Democratic Senator Ben Nelson also doesn’t support the president’s plan.)

For the past few days, Fox has been hypocritically attacking MSNBC over an interview on Countdown in which Janeane Garafalo said teabaggers were racists. Now, they’ve actually sent in a producer for the O’Reilly show to a GE shareholders meeting as a publicity stunt to amplify their attacks.

Our friends at Free Press put together a humorous YouTube mashup demonstrating that Glenn Beck is not the only one pushing the doomsday scenarios. But there's also a serious message: Real democracy needs real journalism, not more dumb fear-mongering.

Texas Republican Congressman John Culberson apparently hasn’t read the U.S. Constitution, because he thinks Texas can split into five separate states whenever it wants, changing the political balance in the U.S. Senate “overnight.”

This is pretty funny: at the same time that Fox is howling with anger at MSNBC for airing an interview in which Janeane Garafalo accused teabaggers of racism, Glenn Beck and one of his guests make the exact same accusation — only this time, it’s against the political left.
