The Lord gave me a shocking and disturbing prophetic word as I was flying into Colorado Springs recently.
This strong yet freeing word has resulted in some important repentance and a fresh pursuit of holiness in the body.  You can see the first post on this topic here.
This message will be the lead story in my upcoming magazine theBurning.  I feel it’s important to sound the alarm for a new level of sensitivity to humility in our own lives and in the church in general.  As we live truly humble and meek lives, the Earth will be turned upside down.  The Kingdom will advance.
After being asked to share this word at a leadership event in Colorado Springs a few weeks back, we felt that it was imperative to unpack it further.  I did so last Saturday at this new city-strategy for leadership development in the Colorado Springs area.

As we are continuing to prepare for the coming revival in Detroit and in the cities of the Earth, it’s important to consider all of the obstacles, necessary focuses, practical issues and spiritual emphases.  Revival won’t simply break out because we are hungry. 
In fact, there’s every reason why revival WON’T launch, and if we’re not careful, the hope of a great outpouring will result in overwhelming disappointment.
Revival isn’t as much a sovereign move of God as it is an obedient move of man.
We have a part to play and a job to do.
Some of the concerns that we must understand are:

Time- have we made room on our daily calendars for the extreme requirement of time that revival will demand?

Amy and I are working very hard at putting the necessary pieces together prior to making a final decision regarding the re-launch of the church.  You are possibly one of those pieces.  Miles and I have also been seeking out property for the church… so, the wheels are in motion!  But… we must have considerable additional participation before we can make the giant leap from KC to Colorado Springs.
Today, we received a phone call from Detroit, and Amy is seriously being considered for a job at a crisis pregnancy center there.  We’ll need to make a decision soon if that does come to pass.  So, it’s imperative that we ensure everything is in place in Colorado Springs prior to making a move there.  A small number of people have felt strongly that the time is NOW for a revival/prayer/prophecy style church to arrive in the Colorado Springs area… but, we must see the team in position before we can do th

Here’s a powerful video from Morningstar that simply captures people responding to the groanings of the Holy Spirit during a ministry time.
I wonder if something like this is actually closer to what is a biblically normal church service than what is currently accepted as ‘normal’.
I’m yearning for a move of God that shakes us off of our man-made traditional structures. 
I’ll be putting out a video myself later today describing this desire to see something launch in the Colorado Springs area.  There is a burning in me today that’s overwhelming, and I know that God is desiring full freedom to manifest among his people.
I know many will naturally be uncomfortable with what they see in this video, while others will find themselves craving more.

From the book The Power to Change the World by Rick Joyner regarding the Welsh Revival:
William T. Stead: …if you are afraid of strong emotions, you’d better give the revival a wide berth.
Interviewer: But, is it all emotion?  Is there no teaching?
William T. Stead: Precious little.  Do you think teaching is what people want in revival?   These people, all the people in a land like ours are taught to death, preached to insensibility.  They all know the essential truths.  They know they are not living as they ought to live, and no amount of teaching will add anything to that conviction.

Regarding the place of prayer and teaching in our churches:
To those who critiqued the Lakeland revival by saying there was insufficient teaching, it could be much easier to critique most churches by saying there is insufficient prayer.  Which is the greater offense?  Should we be more concerned about not knowing more about God or by not deeply knowing God?

One of the primary criticisms of the Lakeland Outpouring was the seeming lack of teaching (though there was amazing teaching when I was there… in fact, the teaching session was lengthier than you’d find in most churches today).  I have found this to be quite interesting as it reveals, at least to a degree, an incorrect understanding of teaching’s role in the church.
Now, allow me to clarify on the front end of this discussion—I am a teacher, I love to teach, and I zealously affirm that teaching is a critical hinge in ministry.  We must have biblical, Holy Spirit driven teaching—and much more of it than we have now.  That being said, we have to get ready for a different structural facilitation of the role of teaching in our churches.
Here’s the question I have for those who are critical of moves of God due to a seeming lack of teaching during the meetings: Why do you presume the meetings are to be teaching centric?

I’m writing this as I’m hungering for a radical reformation in the church that will result in extreme power and revival and unstoppable Kingdom advance in our cities.  The church as we know it is going to change, and many Christians are experiencing this deep craving… though, the advance toward reformation is taking people in many different directions.  The emergent church, the organic church, the para-church and, of course, the house church.
My belief is that there are healthy house churches and there are also terribly unhealthy house churches that result from an Absalom spirit and a rebellious, or even simply, an impatient heart.
In Acts we don’t see a house church devoid of a greater corporate expression.  It’s not either/or but rather, it’s both/and.  They were in the house of prayer daily AND in homes.  Strong apostolic leadership is critical as we advance as a city church, and those in house church leadership must be rightly aligned under apostolic leadership.
Rank and order are extremely biblical principles, and if we don’t understand this we will find ourselves presuming to have the right to become self-governing and lawless.
In regard to effectiveness, mega-churches, at least structurally, have much greater ability to ‘get the job done’.  The question many have is, “what is the job?”
It’s to be a house of prayer for all nations, to be a unified army and to advance the Kingdom with power and precision.
