One of the things I love about the 9 AM worship hour at Northland is the diversity of those who attend. That’s the hour when you’ll find a (what is an appropriate word for “group” in this context?) whole bunch of wheelchairs on the right side of the auditorium from a local care facility — [...]

1st NYC Taxi Ride Video
Because, I supposed, there are so many movies and television shows set in New York, the city that never sleeps feels strangely familiar even the first time you visit. Okay, at least that’s how it felt to me.
When we hopped in the cab at Laguardia, I didn’t have my seatbelt on yet and we were [...]

Housewarming – PUBLIX TV Commercial
I was recently talking to my friend Lisa about Publix television commercials — and then I realized that they MUST be on YouTube by now. I was correct. Yipee!!
I love Publix television commercials – at least some of them. Truly classic storytelling.
Right up there with Hallmark.
One of my favorite of my favorites is called House [...]
Chimamanda Adichie: The danger of a single story
This is extraordinary. I must listen again and again before I can comment more clearly than a general gushing. Grace and insight pour out of this woman who helps me to see.
There are things here that are applicable to so many aspects of my life and work. Yes, I will watch again. In the mean [...]
Losing Languages v. Preserving Cultures
“Most people are not at all interested in the death of languages,” says Claude Hagege, prominent French linguist. “If we are not cautious about the way English is progressing it may eventually kill most other languages.”
This statement appears in a BBC article titled The death of language? This article addresses an issue that has become [...]
Everythings amazing nobodys happy
Okay, I’m not sure what is more intriguing about this clip from Conan…but it is entertaining. My opinion. (Parents, it’s a comedian on Conan. Not vulgar…but…it is late night television.)

WEBSITE: Conan hosts the comedian Louis CK who is talking of the spoiled generation.

Michelle's Story
I’ve been waiting for a few days for this media to be available to share with you. Listen to Michelle’s story and consider all that you can learn about God and about your own story when you listen to hers. I love that God created us to live and grow in communitiy, to benefit from each other’s stories as we are all written into God’s story.

Football - Made in Africa
AfriGadget is one of the blogs I just can't resist and, truly, there is no reason to try. It is a celebration of...well here, I'll let this team of bloggers speak for themselves: "AfriGadget is a website dedicated to showcasing African ingenuity. A team of bloggers and readers contribute their pictures, videos and stories from around the continent. The stories of innovation are inspiring. It is a testament to Africans bending the little they have to their will, using creativity to overcome life’s challenges."

Last night Erik posted this video which is one of a series called Made in Africa being produced by a TV/film group out of Belgium. It is a celebration of football in Africa. With the World Cup headed to South African in 2010, it seems that they're right on time. (I'd also recommend a look at this site if you're one who likes to see well done micro-sites. It's lovely.)

(For my readers who are parents of young children, you may want to preview this so you are ready for the "what's that?" inquiry that will come if you let them watch this story. Then you'll have to decide if that's a conversation you're ready to have. I'll suggest that if your kids are enrolled in school, it could very well be time.)
SOUR '日々の音色 (Hibi no neiro)'
The EP of Japanese group SOUR titled Water Flavor (or is the song title SOUR WATER FLAVOR by a group named Torrent? or visa versa?) was released in June of this year. This video (okay, there really are only bits and pieces about this group or this release that I can find on the internet -- in English -- so I'm reading between the lines a little) was created for that release. Anyhow, that's not really the point. The point is, this is brilliant. Eddie (friend/colleague with Wycliffe UK) posted this to FB today and I'm quite smitten with it.I'd like to know what the song is about -- but I will continue to enjoy this whether I know or not.
Let's NOT keep Christmas this year.
Instead, let's give it away.
You can ignore it, but it won't go away...
Most of us (individually if we're over 40 years old and organizationally) are already running to catch up with this new thing. The learning curve is steep because it's not so much about the technology (we've survived new technology before) as it is about a new world view. If you've been thinking that you can ignore Social Media for a few months and it, too, will die in popularity like salad shooters and mood rings, then you're going to wake up in a few years more confused than ever.Sometimes I'm already confused. If you're needing to get a sense of just how powerful and how widespread this revolution has already spread, then the video below is a good place for that conversation to start. (Thanks to Lynn who posted this on Facebook from YouTube where I saw it and grabbed it to post on my blog. Next step? I'll Tweet it. Crazy.)
Wedding Celebration
Thanks for sharing this, Angela! I'll post without further commentary.
