SilentRebel
I spend my time writing and researching any number of topics, mostly anything that strikes me as interesting since I enjoy learning about anything and everything. As such, I am a voracious reader with a somewhat short attention span for anything outside of books and reading. By nature, I am a sceptic who cannot except things by their appearance alone, and I have a profound distrust of anything called “commonsense.” I am very committed to the philosophies and ethics that form the basis of my beliefs, quite possibly to a fault, but they give shape to a world that I find to be shapeless. Finally, I am deeply committed to my fiancée and our family of three dogs as they are what keep me grounded, otherwise I'd probably wake up in ditches far more frequently than is normal.

Jean Michel Basquiat - Painting Live, Downtown (1981)
A great sad tale of genius and self destruction. I love his work and have always thought the story to be uplifting and then tragic.Collected in SilentRebel's videos Oct 23, 2010 -
Homemade Spacecraft
From Huffington Post - http://huff.to/bF5kTB "A father and son from Brooklyn, New York sent an iPhone into the stratosphere a few weeks ago to record a video of the earth's curvature. The two spent eight months researching and testing their homemade craft, which was made of a weather balloon and a styrofoam case for the iPhone, before launching in Newburgh, NY."Collected in SilentRebel's videos Oct 17, 2010 -

According to the Toronto Star (Oct 17, 2010) "Officer Bubbles’ sues YouTube and users over cartoons" http://bit.ly/cvRpvo This guy is a bully and the YouTubers simply called him out... he is a public official accountable to the people, but like all bullies he cannot take getting called out. BANNED BOOKS WEEK
Censorship of the arts and scholarship really burns me... had all the books that had been censored were still so, we would not have much of our greatest literature, art, philosophy and science. End censorship now... fight ignorance!Collected in SilentRebel's videos Sep 30, 2010 -

Car Company Helps Fight Climate Change
I am not usually a fan of the vehicle industry, or one to love advertisements, but this video actually hit me in heart. Its powerful and at moments tear jerking... it is one of few ads that isn't just playing at environmentalism, you can tell that someone behind this commercial gets it!Collected in SilentRebel's videos Sep 28, 2010 -
CBS News Sunday Morning - Linda McGibney reaction to Ben Stein op-ed regarding tax on rich
Linda McGibney makes a very reasoned and impassioned argument as to why she is willing, as a member of that upper tax bracket like Ben Stein, to pay the tax. I like her argument, not just because I cannot stand Ben Stein (a man who is as unfunny as they come with his one horse act), but because I think that what she says is very true. Brave Linda!Collected in SilentRebel's videos Sep 28, 2010 -
Forget The Facebook Phone, Here’s Mozilla Seabird — An Open Web Concept Phone

Humanity Lobotomy - Second Draft
Net Neutrality is one of the most pressing issues in the future of our freedom as the internet marks the last bastion of hope for all humans to express themselves freely and openly. Big business wants to take away those rights and turn the internet into fee for service pipeline that works like TV, where they govern and control what we watch and see. Fight back and say no... in the US www.saveournet.com in Canada http://saveournet.ca/ and http://netneutrality.michaelgeist.ca/Collected in SilentRebel's videos Sep 23, 2010 -
