Adrian Buchan (AUS) has beaten eight time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) to win his first ever ASP World Tour event, the Quiksilver Pro France in Hossegor.

Buchan beat Slater 15.73 to 15.16 in a tight heat held at Les Bourdaines this afternoon. The final berth was the first of Buchans ASP World Tour career. Prior to winning the Quiksilver Pro France, Buchan he had never advanced from the quarterfinal round.

Melanie Bartels (HAW), has won the 2008 Billabong Girls Pro Rio, defeating fellow finalist Sofia Mulanovich (PER), in rifling four foot (1.5 metre) barrels at Barra da Tijuca in Rio de Janeiro. Event No. 4 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Womens World Tour, the Billabong Girls Pro Rio survived through a grueling five day lay period to culminate in excellent conditions today, with the ASP Top 17 putting in some of the best performances in ASP history.

All the highlights from the Quik Pro in France where local wildcard Joan Duru (FRA) defeats Kelly Slater in the opening round of competition but Slater got him back in Round 3. Bede Durbridge bowed out to wildcard Michel Bourez (TAH) leaving Slater a shot at his 9th World Title if he wins the event!

Australia's most infamous snowboard event STYLEWARS heads across the Tasman for the first time to see US rider Eric Willett crowned the kiwi Stylemaster, showing technical skill and flair across all judged sessions.

The event had an added twist with a rider vote adding the equivalent of a full extra day of competition points. Benny Bright (AUS) and Nate Johnston (AUS) came out on top of the rider vote boosting them both up the standings and almost pushing Nate into the StyleMaster position.
