Sea Shepherd FAIL
Well, we might as well get all our Sea Shepherd hatin' out at once. This is the epitome of Nautical Incompetence.

Southern Fried Science Hearts Sigourney Weaver
And not just because she was in "Alien". Sigourney Weaver schools Fox News on Ocean Acidification.

Don't read the YouTube comments, they're depressingly dumb. Can anyone explain what the host was talking about when he mentioned Blue Whales? The film she's talking about can be found here.

Interview with Simon Hutchins of "The Cove": Post your questions!
Southern Fried Science is pleased to present the latest in our series of interviews with newsmakers from the scientific and conservation community. As always, please post questions you'd like me to ask in the comments section of this blog post. I'll choose the best to send to our interview subject.

Simon Hutchins, Director of Expeditions for the Oceanic Preservation Society and a key player in the award-winning movie "The Cove", has agreed to be interviewed. He also said that he will try to get Ric O'Barry to answer some questions but can't guarantee it.

For those of you unfamiliar with this fantastic movie, see my review for a thorough summary.

Here is a trailer:

You can also see the official website for The Cove.

Please submit a question! I will leave this thread open for one week, at which time I will send the best questions to Simon.  Please tell your friends about this opportunity!

What will you do?
I originally saw this at the BLUE Ocean Film Festival.

What do you think? Has the conservation movement "failed"? Is "drastic action" necessary?

Hysterical shark video on YouTube

Shark Research Techniques: Longlining
Longlining is a common research technique used by shark scientists as well as the primary fishing technique used by shark finners. Check out this video I made to see how we do it! Make sure your sound is on!
Meg: Hell's Aquarium Contest Update
As many of you know, a character based on me was featured in the shark adventure book "Meg: Hell's Aquarium" by Steve Alten. Though I was embarrassed that my character ran away in terror after one minisub dive, it does mean that I live to be in the next book... if you help me to win this contest!
Please watch this 90 second YouTube video... I'm only a few views away from winning, and we only have a week left!
Interview with Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus Director Jack Perez
After watching Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus a few weeks ago, I got in touch with the Director, Jack Perez ("Ace Hannah"). He was kind enough to agree to an interview. I hope you enjoy the result!

If you haven't yet seen the trailer for this amazing movie, check it out here:
