Triangle Shirt Factory
Looking up on my YouTube subscriptions a video popped up. It was a former teacher from my high school, Trevor Leonard. His stage band name is Triangle Shirt Factory, and about a year ago his album "Widening" came out. Now I loved the album, but my favourite song of his, "Hello" wasn't on it. There's a whole story behind that.

But he just recently posted a video of my favourite song from the album, "Sidewalks (A Newtown Winter Memory)" So I'm featuring him on my blog. I'm hoping he puts up a video of "Hello" soon, but for now here's "Sidewalks."

Ryan Adams
Today is another posting of my favourite artists. I bring you former Whiskytown front man Ryan Adams. Not to be confused with that Canadian douchebag Bryan Adams, Ryan is an edgy, alternative artist, who since his departure from Whiskytown has moved from his country roots with his debut solo album, Heartbreaker, to more rock oriented with success with albums such as 2001's Gold (My most highly recommended), 2003's Rock N Roll, and 2007's Easy Tiger. His album Gold, considered his masterpiece so far, had such hits as New York, New York, which the video was shot only 4 days before 9/11 and When The Stars Go Blue, which he wrote and originally performed, but is better known as a cover song done by many artists, including U2 and Tim McGraw. He did an amazing thing is 2005, releasing 3 full length albums full of new material in one calendar year. So enough of my jabbering, here's some stuff to listen to.

New York, New York (I cannot embed it, so click on the name to go to the video.)

Carbon Leaf
Today is another post of my favourite bands that you might not know. Today I bring you Richmond's own Carbon Leaf. Formed in 1992 in Randolph-Macon College, they released their first album, Meander in 1995. They were underground until "The Boxer" from their fourth album Echo Echo became relativly big. They broke through on their 5th studio album and first label album Indian Summer. And since then, they've been on the rise. So enough talk, let's get to the music.

Augustana
Continuing my series of posts about artists who I like and enjoy comes Augustana. The band, which comes out of San Diego is considered the American version of Coldplay, but I like them a lot better than Coldplay. Chris Martin, the pretentious ass, has a whiny voice compared to Dan Layus, the lead singer for Augustana. I'm going through a down period in my life right now and they help. First releasing an EP named Midwest Skies and Sleepless Mondays as a debut album. They then reached critical success with their single Boston from their second album. Their third album was the one that caught my eye though. Can't Love, Can't Hurt was a pure joy to listen to. With such songs as I Still Ain't Over You and Where Love Went Wrong Augustana seems to hit a stride that I love. The lyrical deepness combined with just great melody makes the third album the one I suggest.
Boom De Yada
If anyone has seen the Discovery Channel commercials where they're singing, then you'll get a kick out of the latest XKCD comic.
