Taking advantage of elephants

While the elephant bulls chilled out swimming the Spoonbills, Yellow-billed Storks and Hammerkops took advantage of their disturbance to fish along the shore lines. As small as the Hammerkop is the bull just couldn't pluck up enough courage to chase him off. Eventually they called a truce.

This big herd of buffalo were feeding in the Acacia tortilis woodland when they must have suddenly got my wind and spooked. And they just kept coming out the woodland, several hundred of them.

Pup enjoys a bashing

The wild dog pups had singled out this individual to torment and hassle today. And the pup in question seems to enjoy the attention being tormented by it's siblings. Until they all bite it in the neck and start dragging it off. All the pups end up tormenting each other.

King of the Castle

The male had already killed and brought back meat to regurgitate to the wild dog pups. With tummies well rounded the pups were let loose to play. An anthill provided the perfect playground as the pups tore around playing who's the king of the castle.

I only saw the wild dogs for 5mins today, but it was just brilliant to see them again. The male was with the pups and all 9 pups are still going strong. This was the first time the pups had seen a vehicle, so of course they were curious. When mom arrived they all moved off.

Hyaena cubs investigate

My first day at the hyaena den and the cubs are curious about my vehicle. The 6 month old cubs call the 3 month old cubs out to play but first they must familiarise themselves with who's who and the little guys are not sure of me, probalby seeing a vechicle for the first time in their lives.

In the cool, overcast, drizzly weather the wild dog pack was on the hunt, this time with pups in tow. Another 'all new' outing for the pups discovering everything and anything they come across. They just have to investigate it all. Always ending up having to catch up to mom and dad.

While the others rested in the shade this lioness initially braved the midday heat to stalk a warthog. But with the warthog long gone she continued down to drink at Sosigi dam and then the long walk in the sun back to rest.
