Too good to pass up
I met Christopher Walken once with my parents and sister in a restaurant in NYC and can categorically say that he is a fucking badass. This guy could star in the next three sequels to Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel and I'd still think he's one of the coolest and most talented guys working in Hollywood today. And no, I didn't make that sequel title up. If you felt part of your soul drift away after reading that, I can relate.
Now for a complete 180... Here's a link to Showtime's Fight Camp 360 Series following the lead up to Fedor Emelianenko (30-1) vs. Brett Rogers (10-0). I'm having trouble embedding that video player's media but I'll figure it out sooner or later.
The Fedor vs. Rogers fight is set for November 7th, this Saturday, and my excitement is only matched by how nervous I am. If you know me well at all, you know I'm a huge fight fan and Fedor is undoubtedly the truth amongst the clusterfuck of modern MMA. I remember watching the Affliction PPV with Arlovski alone in my living room and losing my shit when he threw that overhand right and knocked him out cold. Watching Fedor fight is nerve-wracking. He's supposed to be our messiah, the Tiger Woods of brawling and if he goes down on Saturday to a guy like Brett Rogers, I'll be pretty fucking disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I love a good upset but this one would just really piss me off. Rogers is a prospect with a good foundational pedigree but Fedor has been fighting for a decade and in that time has become the most well-rounded and feared fighter on earth. His time will pass but I don't think it has just yet. Fedor by kimura in the second after a fairly even first.
Finally, check out Men Who Stare at Goats on friday. I've heard some good things, some great things and yes, even some life-changing things. In any case, support Overture Films. They need to be successful for the long term well-being of Hollywood and its changing culture.
