THEWHATWORKS is a new international theatre company working in India, Brasil, Bangladesh and the UK. We aim to make our performances available to audiences who do not always have easy access to the arts. THEWHATWORKS’ Artistic Director Imogen Butler-Cole directed sell-out runs of her first two productions: Much Ado About Nothing (in Hindi, Urdu and English) in Mumbai, 2006; and Fora das Correntes – (in Portuguese and English) at TARA Arts 2009. From summer 2009 - 2011 Imogen was based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she was Casting Director for BBC WST's Bishaash, and directed PiNiK, a play for drug awareness with Prachyanat Theatre. Also trained as an actress, Imogen has performed in London, France, New Zealand, India, Belgium, Bangladesh and Brasil. She speaks French, Portuguese, Bangla and Hindi and is Theatre Advisor with DIKSHA, a locally-run NGO run by and for marginalised adolescents in Kolkata.
